Poppy Rework 2015 season

AlphaGlowcloud··4 votes·10,092 views

I think that Riot has done so much for some of their early champions in the past, and wile her popularity has dropped poppy was a great learning champion for me and much to my dismay i recently tried to play her and found her outclassed by almost every new top lane champ. I saw her on the list for rework and was overjoyed but no word has been released since. If you think she deserves a rework so that she is playable in new meta and new rift or just want to play her for nostalgia please send this thread around and post your thoughts. If any riot employees are reading this please consider that she is only viable now as a very rare counter pick to very few champions top, and wile she may have found use in other places she still deserves an update.

I still have a ton of fun with her in the jungle. I don't like all the talk of changing her ultimate and nerfing her Q. Leave her as she is. She's one of my favorite off-meta picks.

dont change her q please

I read that they think her main problems are her passive and ult, making her naturally tanky and an obstacle to fight around. so they're basically taking away what makes her fun and what's prompted my 5 year poppy main. well, I'll give the new poppy a shot but if they just destroy her as a fun champion and make her "balanced" aka boring as fuck and underpowered, I'm quitting league and giving my account to a friend or some random lucky bastard.

Can I be the random lucky bastard? xD

I read that too. I seem to remember riot mentioning at one point "not wanting to take away any champion's identity through reworks." And just wanting to make them more playable and easier to work with from a balancing standpoint. The problem is: taking away Poppy's ult would be like taking away Karthus's ult, such a huge section of the identity of that champ would just disappear. Poppy would go from "That smurfette looking hammer chick that doesn't take damage." To "That smurfette looking hammer chick." Based on past reworks I trust riot with Poppy and hope they do well with her, but they really need to be careful or I'm going to wind up never playing one of my favorite champions again.

i want a rework but i don't want to settle for a watered down half baked version of herself. I like the idea that if poppy wants someone dead later on she can usually make it happen, it beats waiting for stuff to happen or questioning can i fight this.

she needs rework just like sion did no excuses

I play Poppy almost exclusively, apart from Nasus, and I do think it's about time she got a full re-work and re-design. A new skin for Sona isn't going to make the game better to play.... I think Riot should incorporate some wave clear for Poppy, add a shockwave to her Q so she can easily clear a lane if need be. It would be a nice addition for jungle play as well. Just an opinion, not an order. Poppy

That would be awesome! Although I guess the big thing they could do is to add some synergy/variety to her skills. Just an example that would make her very fun imo:

  • q is her core: let it be as it is. Empowered q (see "w" description) lets poppy emit a shockwave for a % of q damage.

  • w is the boring/unseen skill, should rework it hard. A suggestion: w passively gives poppy some armor and ad and has kind of a long cd; when activated, poppy gets a reset on her "e" and her next ability is empowered.

  • e is atm awkward, sometimes: solve the problem changing it to something like that. "e" lets poppy charge an enemy and strike him with her hammer (without the knock-back), empowered "e" makes poppy push the enemy back and stun him on impact with objects OR WITH ANOTHER ENAMY CHAMPION (that would be super-fun!). With thw w resetting e she has much play variety (there are other champs with double dash, like fiora).

  • r doesn't really need a rework imo, that's what makes poppy unique. They can change the mechanics and the way bonus dmg is calculated (% dmg is very op) but let it be as it is ^^

  • her passive is also a definig thing, letting offensive poppy builds be somwhat tanky nonethless. No point in reworking that little op thing.

All I heard from your post is " i play poppy too much and if you rework her or nerf her ratios or stats I will have to play a skilled champ now"

You should of tried harder nothing you suggested would make her any less viable and you essentially want to give her q a waveclear also??? Jesus christ.

I love poppy "doesent fit the current meta" gimme a break. Poppy is a unique and powerfull champion a rework will mean the end of pops and i know its gonna happen i dont have to like it though. Consider these "reworks" are just a fancy name for removing a champion and replacing it with something with the same name i.e. sion.

Poppy is extremely overpowered and needs a rework to put her in a better spot balanced wise - because you cannot nerf an unplayed champion or buff an overpowered champion --- Sion was a weird champion with a massive identity crisis, Riot gave Sion a proper identity and kept his unique elements of a delyaed exploding shield and infinite health stacking

she saw pro play a while back, so she's getting a rework weather the players want one or not

i don't think she needs a rework because some players might like poppy they way she is. but some people hate some of the things poppy can do, such as the stun when she gets u to the wall and etc. like Sion they made him even op because they made him able to jungle and top and mid now an that's really a good rework, his ultimate is really op now he can now ultimate to gank lanes, also when he dies he can come back up alive giving players a chance to take the kill, like seriously that shit overpowered. nevertheless if they rework poppy they are proberly gona make her op, so more players are going to start using her, such as tristana. when they rework tristana her ulti is too op because now you can knock them into your turret and get the kill plus if ur like lv 12 in lane still the knock back will be too much to handle and to get away. plus if your chasing a tristana lvl 16 and low hp and she ultimates you that is gona be a hard time. so i am just saying think about what is gona happen if she gets a rework. will she be op or crap, the chances are now 75% of op and 25% not op.

I agree bro i love poppy but she doesnt fit the new meta's of 2015

The thing that needs to be reworked is her op as fuck passive, because of it she doesn't even have to build tanky at all to soak up as much dmg as she needs to out dmg you and you are straight up fucked if you get ulted. Oh and on top of it which I am not sure if when ulted she can be cc'd or not because i haven't played her in a few months but if she cannot be cc'd then she is very very overpower especially late game.

Passive+ult= no counter play in the game right now at all and believe me I have seen alot of poppy lately and she is just straight broken late game. Zero counterplay.

Stacona1 votes

they are removing her ultimate, also only champion that can affect an ulted Poppy is thew challenged one

Poppy is already next to receive a majour rework- they are only keeping her charge that stuns people when she runs them into terrain and they are also properly making her a yordle instead of a blue smurf species that got changed to yordle at the last second so Riot is going to properly make Poppy a yordle

If a rework must come they should try and leave her abilities similar so that way her play style doesn't change too much. For example...

New Passive: Poppy gains bonus health, armor and magic resistance per level. Q: Unchanged W: Same as before but now grants a mini Sunfire Cape at max stacks that scales with AP. E: Unchanged. R: Grants Poppy damage amplification against a target and gains increased armor, magic resistance and health for 8 seconds.

Here power is taken out of the ultimate and passive while keeping her core gameplay the same.

Her passive and ult is a problem. It's where all her power is allocated. If you get fed on Poppy, you become a death ball that can 1v5 a team, get two kills and run away before the enemy team can do anything about it. The reason she can do this is that getting to that point in any sort of competitive play is near impossible. The only idea I have come up with is as follows;

Note: I'm using X and Y for place holders for ratios.

Passive: Master Armsmith After activating a skill Poppy gains a shield (X Armor + Y MR). Static cooldown 10/8/6 seconds. Poppy gains magic damage on-hit (X Bonus AD + Y AP)

Q: Unchanged, except for; When Poppy uses Devastating Smash on a minion or monster, 50% of the damage affects nearby enemy and neutral units.

W: Passive just gives bonus stats, no more ramping up. Active changed to; Poppy throws her shield at a target location, gaining significant movement speed when running towards it.

E: Unchanged with an added effect; If Poppy targets her shield with Heroic Charge she will slide on her shield for X distance, briefly knocking up all units hit and applying the full damage effect. (Might have to tone down the total damage since it can be AOE)

R: Fugitive: Grants Poppy 10/20/30% damage application for 8 seconds to a single enemy champion, marking the start of the chase and granting vision of the target. Also allows for one use of Diplomatic Immunity Revoked; Poppy pulls the target back to the start of the chase once per use of Fugitive.

I'll ask people to keep their flaming to themselves. I'm a fan of Poppy as a champion, she was my first main when I started playing. The idea here is to keep most of Poppy's identity while making room for buffs and nerfs so she can fit the role of tank, bruiser or assassin, not all.
