His q does very minimal damage and can only hit 1 target short range. W snare is next to useless because by the time its over you got 1 ability off. His E just doesnt do much either. His R is the only good ability and should totally stay. Someone enlighten me on why this champion has a 51% winrate.

But the passive doesnt last very long and if you get in range to use your kit you get instantly blown up cuz your barely 500 range away.

You are playing Ryze wrong then. Do you know the near permaroot combo? Get passive. WQEQWQEQWQEQW That just about resets his W every time. There is only a few Top Laners who can deal with that. Yes, I know that can't be done early early game, but past a certain point, you can do it. Besides, the root is still just long enough and you are still ranged... You are playing Top Lane right?

I played him in aram and seemed not great at all. So is that why I just dont know how to play the champion correctly?
Axxuka1 votesOn high-level play (think plat-diamond, if not more), he had a high win-rate, Riot stated it takes around 100games to be great on him while your AVERAGE champ is 30ish. they want to tweak him to make him easier for casuals and not skyrocket him to OP state in high-Elo.
Hollabakatchya1 votesI was wondering the same thing earlier for the same reasons. Once you trap them with W you can just tickle them with your Q and E before they shred your health.
