Runes & Limits

Hello, I have been playing League of Legends for just over 3 years now. I am generally a rpg fan & as such I love to horde stuff. One of my long term goals has been to own everything in the game. Heroes, Runes & skins. Account completion is a goal of mine. (I own all champs, all runes allowed & about 1/6th of all skins & if you have counted the skins its a huge number. ) Recently I attempted to purchase the last few Tier 3 Runes left for me to purchase in the shop when I came upon the error message "You have attempted to purchase or already own more than the maximum amount for this item" This lead me to believe I was experiencing a glitch as I did not own said rune. After a support ticket was filed I was informed that there is a limit to how many runes you can own. This limit is 700. No where in the tutorial, the shop or the help section does it inform the player that there is a set limit to how many runes you may purchase//own. Suggestion 1: Please post notes in these sections that inform the player of said limit. (If I had known i would not have purchased all Tier 1 & 2 runes only to leave my self missing the actually useful Tier 3 runes. Further issues on this matter include that Riot has removed the rune recycler, & there is no way to sell back or erase runes from my account, so I am literally stuck, I cant sell off the lower tier (useless) runes so I may purchase my Tier 3's. Suggestion 2: Please add a method to remove runes from ones own account if you are to continue insisting on a limit.

Major issue: There is for lack of better term "stream code" that tells the client with a 1 or a 0 (for on or off//Yes or no) if you own & can use a rune. This code exists for every rune. The client//server has to have an extra line of code to disable you from purchasing over 700 runes. It literally takes the client more memory in order to tell its self not to allow you said runes than it would to just allow you to purchase all runes. Re iterating, It takes the server more effort(memory) to deny you purchase of max runes, than it would to just let you own them all due to it taking an extra line or so of code to enable a limit. (as there must already exist a code for each rune to be on or off anyway.) Suggestion 3: Remove the limit on runes, it literally makes no sense to my understanding of coding.

Please & thank you for any effort taken on this topic. I apologize if I come off as rude or "Salty" it certainly is not my intention.

Technically, they should just delete T1 runes from everyone's accounts since they no longer exist. I think that would actually solve the problem, but I'm not entirely sure what that would entail coding wise. The limit is probably set for a reason, I doubt they'd throw it on just to spite people, so it could potentially be due to memory or client adaptability (if it's the latter, then we could possibly see an update to at least increase the cap once the new client is released). I also think that this is simply a rare case and not necessarily bad design, but they probably should've expected this when it was first created/when they added more runes, so I understand why they didn't put anything about the 700 rune limit, but obviously hindsight is 20/20.

As I understand all T2+all T3 runes is still a bit over 700.

I'm pretty sure support is willing to remove runes for you so you can round out your tier 3's at least.

Apparently there wasn't a limit at first, but for (presumably spaghetti code) reasons apparently some magic number above 700 breaks things, so they put a cap on them.

Maybe it won't be necessary once they finish the new client, but the current one is basically being ignored in favour of focusing on the new one, so any changes to the current one are unlikely.
