Due to how is made, he pretty much has little to no counter play. CC is not the best counter, since that is everyone's counter and not just his.

is a champion that should be looked into receiving a rework; buffing him in high elo will make him pubstomp low elo even more. Nerfing him in low elo will make him useless in high elo; a rework is pretty much the only option.
Stuns, snares, don't be stupid, knock ups, knock backs, don't be stupid, Fears, Burst damage, Armor and did I mention don't do anything stupid?

Yi cant 1v1 a decent vayne. Yi gets fked by shaco, jax, ww etc. Yi gets fked by melee supports, he cant even reach an adc with an alistar, braum, leona supp. Yi gets fked by other supports, he cant even reach an adc with a lulu, janna, zilean and I am not even listing nami because for that you have to be good at landing the bubble the others which I mentioned are simple enough to even first time them. Yi gets fked by 90 % of the league champions, you just have to bait his ult. he cant chase riven with Q's/w cant chase fiora with q's cant chase udyr with E, gets fked by sejuani's, sion, galio, annie, azir, annivia, zac's, rammus etc in team-fights.
If you are losing to Yi, it means you are ignoring one person on enemy team and spamming your cc to some random tank or some shit, and that's on you not on Yi. I can bet any one above gold would ever complain about Yi (apart from the wriggles stacking era).
Yi is one of the weakest champs in the game, the way to counter him is the fact this dude, with no tank stats at all other then e, has to come to you. wait that's all melee champs. don't chase him. let him come to you while you have 4 people around you if your comp is even half decent, you will see he dies faster then he kills, and stop dieing to the no cc not even a slow jungle.
His W is absolute cancer, that's the only problem I have with him. If you don't have any hard cc on a low cooldown, your pretty much fucked if you try to 1v1 him.
I'd like to see them do a mini rework on his W, maybe make it so after he takes X amount of damage during the channel, the ability ends. Or just remove the damage reduction all together.

build armor or if you see him pop his ultimate run until it goes away. One of the saltiest things you can do to a YI player is make them waste their ult before killing them. There Q can be blocked by anyone with a shield or high armor. Plus he will follow you, so if he Qs you then you flash under your turret he will get a face full of turret when he comes out.
