How the hell was that an execute? WTF LOL

Because he had his shield up. The auto procs the shield, but didn't do enough damage to go through it.

As long as your health isn't reduced by a champ, it's an execute. You can do the same thing using Face of the Mountain

Sexy execute after being snared by a nautilus auto as well.

So, time to explain how executes work.

As long as the champions doesnt take damage to their health from another champ, it will be an execute.

Meaning, you can face of the mountain yourself, get autoed, and still get executed, as long as the auto doesn't go through the shield.

Same concept with the yasuo. His shield got popped by the auto, but since it didn't do enough damage to go through the shield, yasuo is co soldered as not having been damaged by an enemy champ, and therefore is executed

That's not entirely true. If you exhaust someone under tower without damaging them and they die it will still count as a kill for the guy who exhausted you. The slow/cc in that case is enough to consider the player as having killed them. In the clip, the Nautilus auto attack clearly snares him, yet he still executes.

Ok so, Yasuo can't be tagged when blocking damage BUT eating CC, but Sivir ulting a minion and the minion hitting someone trying to run to the tower to execute, DOES TAG them? Riot wtf

Looks like an average Yasuo player to me.

You didn't deal any damage to Yasuo. If you red smite someone but don't AA them to damage them in any way and a turret kills them it's an execute.

If you use randuins omen active to slow someone but never hit them you'll still get the kill if they die to tower. Same applies to a zilean slow or Exhaust, which both do no damage. In this case, yes, his shield blocked the damage, but I still snared him with Nautilus' passive which should have been enough to secure a kill.

You can very clearly see that Nautilus applied an autoattack to Yasuo after the turret started targeting him.

I mean, it did damage his shield, and as Kags mentioned, inflicting HP damage isn't a universal requirement for a takedown bonus, since many abilities with crowd control and no damage will still earn you kill participation if you apply them on a target. This is also an is/ought problem, since even if you want to count the above execute as justified if the rule is that only HP damage counts towards kill participation (which, again, doesn't apply to a vast amount of other effects), that shouldn't be the case, as the video demonstrates how buggy and nonsensical that looks in practice. Naut should've gotten the kill at least because his auto applied crowd control to Yasuo, but in general any application of damage or crowd control from an enemy champion should count towards kill participation, even if the damage is absorbed by a shield.
