AP Grievous Wounds Item

Executioners calling is an 800 Gold item that gives 15 AD and the Passive "Executioner" which after dealing Physical damage to an enemy champion applies Grievous Wounds to that opponent for 3 seconds. Although 15 AD for 800 Gold is not that good, having Grievous Wounds on your team can make or break a game. The flip side of this for AP champions is a 3000 Gold investment, Morellonomicon. This Item provides 70 AP, 300 HP, 15 Magic Pen, and the passive "Cursed Strike" Magic Damage inflicted on an opponent causes Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds. The cost of obtaining Grievous Wounds on an AD champion is way too low compared to the cost on the AP side. My suggestion for this is to change Executioners Calling to build like Caufield's and Serrated Dirk, 2 longsword build path and a total cost of 1100g. The item would give 25 AD and Grievous Wounds. Then make a new AP item that costs approximately the same (depending on balancing) and builds like Hextech Revolver, 2 AP tomes. That new item plus Oblivion Orb would build into Morellos. This would create a much more balanced level of gameplay against self healing champions. Grievous Wounds items should not be extremely gold efficient. They should be a significant investment to counter specific types of champions but it should be equal on the AD and AP side. It seems very odd and outdated to have such a large gold discrepancy just to get the same passives.

Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful day.

TL;DR Grievous Wounds is only 800g away for an AD champion vs the 3000g for an AP champion. This is unbalanced gameplay and a lower costing AP item should be introduced to balance this.

It's to keep mages with Grievous wounds out of the laning phase because it's hard to balance, people would just rush a 900gold item and a lot of midlaners that rely on sustain to have a 50% winrate would be in the dumpster. Executioners calling is a sunk cost (Doesn't build into that great of a completed item like item 3165) that offsets your next item by a huge amount just so that you can hurt a Soraka's healing or something, and you don't want Mortal reminder every game. Mages always want Morellonomicon because it gives flat Pen, helping burst, Poke and Dot mages do their thing to squishy targets.

item 3033 only has 25% armour Pen and 45 AD for 2800 gold, and if enemies aren't stacking armour it's a terrible item

Meanwhile mages get some of the best cost effective items item 3152 item 3157

while Melee champions use the same amount of gold to build item 3078 item 3071 (but only one of them of course) While getting out statted while getting out damaged, which means you have to build one of item 3194 item 3001 item 3065 these, which will just set you back even more gold.

Then mages follow up with item 3020 which allow them to do even MORE DAMAGE While you'll have to build item 3111 which (you guessed it) COSTS MORE GOLD THAN item 3020 and only gives you magic resist which they can just pen with their boots anyways.

AP Champions already have too many overpowered items, giving HP, CDR, Damage etc.

Letting them get grievous wounds this easily would break them even more.

As for the thread itself.... AP is treated very differently than AD. In general, AP is going to be neglected in favor of AD unless it is one of their new mobile-burst types. So, when healing becomes insanely rampant, this forces more people to play those types of champions and creates the low-skill environment they want while allowing eSports to be "exciting."

Then morello's should be an ap version of Mortal reminder. with 60 ap 15 magic pen 2 seconds grevious wounds with abilites. and thats it. Know what you are asking for. Sustain is intentionally supposed to be the counter to Ap burst but you still have morello's applying grevious wounds for a redicilous amount of time.

you also forget to mention how item 3123 builds into an item you don't care to have in many games vs item 3165 is an item that most AP champions would love to get regardless of whether it had grievous wounds or not

Yeah it's almost as if different classes have different needs and have to be balanced differently...

P.S. Buy exec on AP if you like it so much, see how easy it is to proc it with autos compared to spells.

Honestly, my thought is more that GW doesn't really help the majority of mages much. Most mages are burst mages or control mages. Those arent really meant for sustained damage. At most, you're looking at like Karthas, Ryze, Heimy and Rumble as pretty much the only 3 mages that really benefit much from GW. GW is so sustained damage dealers can keep more of their damage on their target between each instance of damage they deal, as their damage is usually weaker and cumulative instead of "tactical nuke" levels.

If you gave those 4 an early GW item, you'd never balance them again. Pretty much every other mage who buys it buys it for the stats, not the GW.
