So... How can we fix Taliyah (Balance Discussion)

I know the title is misleading, because by all means she is not "broken", I just feel she could do better. I also know that people have bias' towards characters they like to use. Anyway....

How i would fix Taliyah

I would like to see her laning be a tad better than it is now. I felt like she was incredible before her most recent nerf. Her laning is still good now, but if you "Q" too much you run into alot of problems, and her auto attack just sucks for laning. You can use W and E to clear lines of minions, but you run into MP drought, and the returning for it isn't worth the gain... So I was thinking, why not let her Threaded Volley have the 1st hit do 50% more damage to minions, after that the additional 5 do regular damage.

This would fix 2 of her problems. It would allow her to use the "worked ground" to shoot single rounds at minions (because they only shoot 1 bolt rather than 6) and it would allow her to have some push if she needed it.

The other thing I feel she could benefit from would be the ability to Rock Surf on her (E) Unraveled Earth. Her Rock Surf is amazing for getting to lanes quickly when you have to back. It makes me almost (well....usually) not buy boots until laning ends. By allowing rock surf on that move, it would allow her to shoot it away from enemies in order to start surfing for hasty retreats (and you can than attach yourself to one of the many walls to continue surfing once off the unraveled earth).

I am sure their are flaws to my thinking, but does anyone have any good ideas for her...

Rock surf only works out of combat. You wouldn't be able to use it in that situation you described

It'd be great if Riot would actually settle on one focus point for her instead of trying to make her a zoning control/disruptor mage, a burst mage, and a waveclear/splitpushing/near global map pressure mage and then failing at all 3 because then she becomes too good and gets neutered by nerfs as a result.

Bring back Lockout on her E, buff her E damage to release state, lower the cooldown on W by like 2 seconds, and give W some QoL changes. Locking out E would give E buttloads of more counterplay, freeing some power budget and allowing E to have the high damage it used to have. The W nerf was honestly a flick to the forehead and plain unnecessary. Making W cast when the arrow appears would let it cast faster, getting rid of that stupid input delay.

Reduce E's damage against minions by like 30% or 40% so it cannot clear waves as fast. Taliyah players will have to choose between Q for waveclear and poke or E for zone control and higher burst potential.

Boom. Taliyah is once again a zone control mage who has a variety of ways of going about her early and mid game. Her laning patterns will be much healthier and offers much more counterplay all while giving Taliyah some control in return. She has to set up her roams through positioning her Worked Ground to work in her favour once the time comes.
