How exactly do promos work!?

Before the promos began I was silver 1 earning 20 points per win. Then I finish my promos with 7 wins and 3 losses. When my new division is calculated I am put in bronze 1. WTF!?

placements mean nothing, you could have gone 10-0 you would have same placement, tust me. i went 9-1 got b5 so those matches are legit waste of time and effort.

Pretty much everyone dropped at least one division that has be the trend for these last few days it would seem that riot's "light reset" is harder than last years

I was gold 5 end of the season and in the off season i was gold 4 still winning per game 18-20 lp went to placements have to admite lost alot went 4-6 but I was expecting worst case silver 3-5 but not got placed in bronze 1... soft reset or hard reset?
