Whats wrong with Fizz

I was playing a game against Fizz yesterday as leona. Why is it that with any other escape like flash or caits e, leonas xenith still brings her to them. But anytime I land a xenith on fizz all he does is hop up on that stupid little troll pole, and it doesnt even bring me to him. I'm not saying fizz is broken. I just think the fact that he can completely negate Leonas xenith is stupid, when with anyother champion you go where they land.
