Champion Skillcaps

Hey everyone, I am posting to discuss champion skillcaps and how much experience you need to play certain champions.

I have decided to make a thread about this due to how much people saying that a certain champion is easy to play, then calling them a noob. Yes, certain champions are easier to pick up than others (Garen ,Darius ,Warwick ,MasterYi ) but mastering them is a whole different task. If someone is extremely good with yi (And i don't mean spamming abilities and stealing kills, I mean dodging projectiles and timing everything well and stuff) it doesn't necessarily mean that they are doing well just because yi is an easy champion to play, but it could also mean that the person has mastered the champion. What I am trying to say is that each champion is hard to master, and you can always get better with them. I don't think that people can call people out on using an easy champion because they may just be really good at that particular champion. I know half of you will not agree with me, and I could have written this better, but don't complain about a champion being too easy to play. It's stupid :P.

Cowsep has a bit to say about Master Yi:

Wonderful watch imo.

And then there's cross-referencing general skills with a champion's kit. An example from Cowsep's video is how he waited for Gragas to burn an ability on the minion wave before engaging. This is a skill that has absolutely nothing to do with Master Yi as a champion, as it can be applied against any champion with a significant active ability with any champion that has a significant form of engage. It just happens to be that Master Yi's instantaneous gap closer, his Q, makes him a prime candidate for this general skill. Not only should players recognize the individual skills that apply to champions themselves, but also the general skills that a given champion is well suited for taking advantage of.

No. Yi is just stupidly easy to play.

Dodging skillshots, warding, timing is pretty much League basics. You need to know how to do this stuff if you want to be successful. That being said, the reason why people hate the low skillcap champions is because in the hands of someone who knows the basics, they can snowball AVALANCHE incredibly easily with very limited 'intelligent' input required. What makes it worse is that these champions often have few or very very small flaws that can be difficult to abuse.

I remember watching a video of a fairly popular streamer going into a team fight as katarina, literally facerolling his keyboard, and coming out with a triple kill.

While Katarina isn't exactly a low skill cap champion (lots of neat little get-in-get-outs), the idea I'm trying to convey is simple. Champions like Yi require little effort for huge reward and often have mechanics that people find annoying or cheap.

Hence why I refer to Master Yi as The One-Button Wonder.

I don't agree with you, I play Zed, Kat and Yi and yes it does take more skill to play Zed than Yi but, once you master Yi you can out play a Zed for instance if you time your Q right as Yi you can negate most of the damage from Zed's ultimate. and as a plus your W can negate a lot of tower damage. it simply come down to how skilled a league player you are.

Yi and Garen, I can go for. WW and Darius though, theres no real debate. Its pretty widely accepted that their skill floor and skill ceiling are both pretty low and pretty close together. Its why they've been up for reworks, WW especially.
