I don't know. Gnar is like malphite, just building full tank items through the laning phase. but the the op thing is that Gnar has so much more dueling potential and overall damage. Even if you are ahead, it's pretty much impossible to kill Gnar and even possible to die to him unless he messes up badly. I think gnar needs to be punished a little for building full tank.. there is just no counterplay to that.

redniwediS1 votesThere's plenty of counter play, so long as you treat him as Gnar and not some other champion. You have to respect his strengths and play toward his weaknesses, and while it may take you a while to figure them out you will be able to use them to your advantage if you practice.

he has no weaknesses, if the gnar doesnt waste his e, hes ungankable. his melee form is disgustingly overfilled. his mini form is retarded and kitey. he has no weaknesses lol. hes a tankier form of jayce, except gnar gets stupid escapes as well.
redniwediS1 votesAh I see, you think you have to kill him in order to win lane. League is a game of objectives, and while Gnar won't die unless he makes a mistake it is very, very easy to make him unable to kill you or stop you from taking his towers.
Just learn the matchups, it really is that simple.
