Much of Smurfing is caused by Matchmaking

Specifically, a lot of people don't trust matchmaking, me being one of them. I keep having to make new accounts to have 'fair' games. I'm not looking to have easy wins, because that's not any better than just fighting bots. But it always comes to a point on every account I make around level 20-30, the 'skill gap' accepted between random players in the match seems to drastically climb. On my lower level accounts, it's rare that any one person is carrying the game, it's usually a combination of 2-3 players carrying, or a very close match overall. The higher level I get, the more snowbally and imbalanced the games seem to become.

Those players I started seeing on a brand new account are still there in my level 30 games.. now that's a problem in itself, but then I start seeing golds, plats, sometimes diamonds in those same games where I'm with people that clearly just started the game. You can only imagine how those games play out, I don't flame these players, because I know something is messed up with matchmaking for these to be acceptable at all, let alone a common occurrence. I don't care at all about winning or losing, as long as it was a somewhat even match and not just a stomp then I can say it was a good game, but those are extremely rare.

So the choice becomes either to keep playing these ridiculous matchups where the quality of game depends if matchmaker decided to randomly place a team of level 10s vs 3 golds, or make a new account.

I mean that's a huge skill difference, but there's always still going to be some gap. Theres just not that many pre level 30 non smurfs players looking for a game at the same time.

You're getting in the smurf queue for normals. The system is working as intended. It doesn't put genuine new players in there.
