Why are simple champions not allowed to be strong?

pretty much the title, trundle was super balanced, and he was nerfed, illaoi is better than him in every regard except split pushing, and she is left alone. why is this?

maybe the algorithm riot uses to discover opp champions is unable to properly check champion skill requirement and then falsely throws easier to play and learn champions into nerf zone because they should naturally have higher winrates than harder to play champions.

that actually makes a lot of sense. god damn it rito.

While yes illaoi is very op and i have had my fair shares of getting stomped on by her during ganks, she does take a bit of skill to land things and combo correctly. Trundle while not the most broken champ ever, was also not "super balanced". Especially with the fact that he could 1hit any squishy with his bite half the time. The fact of if they over nerfed him is a whole other subject.

He got nurfed because towers got nurfed too, and sheen rush became so much better on him, granting him high winrate for just bullying his lane opponent and than stealing towers with speed of light. Not because of his mechanically simple kit.
