Is there any chance of convinicing Riot to release the Galio rework as a new champion?

[NOT SURE IF THIS IS IN THE RIGHT BOARD, I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE IT'D APPLY BEST TO]

TL;DR: Save the old Galio and release the rework as a new champion created by Demacia inspired by Galio's undying loyalty to Demacia (or something)

Don't get me wrong, the new rework is really cool and I like the abilities and whatnot. Clearly a lot of effort went into the design / abilities / voice acting, and it is very well done.

However I'm a one-trick Galio main, have been for a long while; I just don't find any other champions as fun as he is. I did go through a phase of Taliyah, she was great fun too, but since all her nerfs and her W/E (?) casting changes I just haven't enjoyed her at all.

And as a long time Galio main I really dislike that the champion whose playstyle I love is being replaced with a new champion whose playstyle is completely different. Instead of chipping and chunking from a distance and only going in when you want to ult / stay within cast range the new Galio is now just an up-and-close champ that was designed to be as close as possible to whom he's fighting.

I did really try to give this guy a chance, but after watching the PBE streams he really just doesn't look like a champion I would enjoy playing when opposed to the original Galio, and there is no other champion like Galio.

A way that you could release this champion as something separately could be that Durand had been working on a much larger version of Galio just before his assassination (SPOILER XD) and after Galio returns to Demacia with Poppy and becomes a guardian of Demacia they decide to revive Durand's old project, this new champion helps out in some skirmish then goes back to dormant mode due to a lack of magic (similar to the lore Riot are giving this rework)

This could then explain the similarity in skins / attitude and conversations.

But this is just me hoping, I doubt it will happen and I will probably end up uninstalling it as there'll be nothing else that really drives me to continue playing. In which case, it was fun whilst it lasted- GG no Re and good luck with your future projects / aspirations Riot!

Give it a try before you give up. The rework is fun, and a lot more cohesive and fluid than Galio's old kit.

You've developed a bit of Stockholm with old Galio, who is functional (like every champion), but overall, his kit is incoherent and counterproductive. Galio was a MR building tank, who had a mess of a kit that didn't actually encourage him to do anything remotely tanky unless his ult is up. He had mage abilities, a tanky W and R, and it just translated poorly as design improved over the years.

This new Galio has many kit elements that his old self had (such as the ranged poke and the defense buffs and AOE taunt), but he's also more functional, as he has the tools now to engage and put himself into the thick of combat right away, something which old Galio desperately wanted, but never had. He has a genuine flow to his kit that doesn't make him run out of mana just trying to lane (old Galio's autos were incredibly weak, and he had to rely on his spells to clear), and what more, he's not awkward or clunky anymore, and he's loads of fun to play.

If you don't like new Galio, you may consider switching to a real tanky mage, such as Vladimir or Lissandra, both of which kind of fulfill similar functions to old Galio's flawed playstyle, except they actually were designed around being at a distance most of their games.

It always sucks when your favorite champion gets reworked to a completely different champ even if it's turned into a really good champion, so i know how you feel.

Forums are bronze and downvote anyone even if they express their thoughts well.

I do agree the new Galio pretty much plays nothing like the old Galio and is pretty much a completely different champion. Let's face it, AP galio is pretty much dead and he's going to be a tank champion now with just a ton of CC. I personally look forward to the Galio rework, but I also definitely playing the original Galio as well, so I feel you on missing him. Stacking MR and hitting like a truck while healing like a mad main with W was always fun.

I use to be a Viktor main myself till his rework changed his build/playstyle completely. He use to be a item 3116 item 3151 lane bully champion where I could crush any lane with my silencing ult and huge burn damage from OLD deathray and ult, but they changed him to a mid/late game burst mage. I will forever miss pressing e on a champion and seeing over half their HP disappear from item 3151 and deathray burn. I am sure most people prefer him in his current state and he probably is an overall better champ, but it sucks never the less for the ones who main the champion for the change.

All i can say is there are a ton of champs, I know you probably loved Galio and you might even end up enjoying him after playing him a while, but if you don't you will find another champion to love. I been playing since season 2 and well, I been through a lot of champion main swaps due to massive nerfs, reworks, etc. I use to main Urgot Fiddlesticks Viktor and well, I pretty much stopped playing all of them and found new loves ;p

I hope you can come to enjoy new Galio or find a new champion to one trick and stick to. I was a fiddle 1 trick for 2 or 3 seasons so I know the feeling of having to let go.

Only if the old Galio was still deleted, he's really not worth saving.
