How does the grading system work?

I understand that the grading system ( ie. the letter grade you get at the end of a match ) isn't well understood since Riot understandably won't divulge tons of information on it, but it seems a bit confusing.

I just had a game where (as MissFortune ) i went 15-2-28 with 298 CS at 46 minutes, but got an S- . Had the most damage by double of anyone else ( both teams ), most gold, most assists, least deaths, and most CS by about 50. What kind of god-tier score does an ADC need to get to get an S+? I don't think i've ever gotten an S+ (several S or S-) in a match. Though i have seen 1-2 players get one in matches.

Ive heard some rumors about it being related to a "performance score" compared to other players in your region, and if that's the case, there are some damn amazing MissFortune players in Silver League NA.

Though i have noticed in general if supports even do remotely well, they'll get an S- at least, so its definitely based on what role you pick.

Its just a bit frustrating when you have a good game where you think you did amazing for your League, then get an S-

The longer the game last the harder it will be to pull that S, also there aren't "god tier" silver players it's just that they get lucky, Play enough games with 1 champion even if you are bad with it and eventually you'll end up in a match were they'll just run to you and die on purpose.

So I have learned that the grade for just about every single role (except support of course) is all based on CS and 298 at 46 minutes isn't good because I can play a game with that same CS at 25-30 minutes and that would qualify for S. CS is the number 1 goal for a good grade and support are based on assist/death count. Your KDA is the other half of the grade and you had a good enough KDA but you need both halves for the S. You should have around 360-400 CS at 46 minutes and from my experience the grade actually 65-70 percent of the grade because you could have 300 CS at 20 minutes with 4/9/X, lose the game and yet still get and S- or even S because of your CS. So your main goal is CS.

Long games tend to be hard to get an S in because the game assumes a certain amount of constant growing CS, which after getting to full build tends to not be prioritized. You have about 130 CS available per 10 minutes -- this means you only got about 50% of the CS available to your lane which isn't great.

Other than that your vision score was about average and your objective control a bit above average but not amazing.

In general it feels like its based on money and vision.
