Is zyra mid viable or good?

I just got zyra and i love her! But, i dont fancy supp too much. (in solo q anyway) Im pretty sure shes viable mid, but is she good enough and do enough dmg to warrant playing her mid?? i dont see her that much in solo q, is it becuase she isnt that good (not true, shes amazing), or is it just ppl dont play her and someone needs to lick her back to life?

People don't play her because she is squishy, has no escape and her snare has a long cast time.

If you can get over the fact that Zyra is not a faceroll champion, you gonna win a lot of games. Her aoe damage is just insane.

She doesn't do a lot of damage and she's very squishy and slow. I've ended up taking her mid a couple of times and its always a very difficult fight. If you get the timing down on her abilities she can be decent midlane as her plants are good for last hitting minions and zoning your opponent. In bot lane they tend to get targeting quickly by any ADC that knows what they can do, but they surprise some midlaners.

I don't recommend her midlane, as there are other mages who are far better than she is for that position. (Lux, Morgana, Annie) But if you practice her skills and learn how to use them well, she can survive midlane. I don't think she'll ever thrive like other do.

Okay i agree with 50% of this. Yes she is a lil more gankable due to her immobility and squishiness. However zyra is a monster with damage.. Her aoe is what gives her this power. I've dealt a lot more damage than my team as a support ap zyra many times. I would only take her mid if u need aoe and magic DMG desperately. And if u do. I strongly recommend building some defensive ap item like RoA for HP.. Rylias ..Zhonyas etc.. Ofc u can still build deathcap but just be careful when u do it because as a mid laner ur a bigger target to the enemy by default so u can't always rush those greedy items like u could as a support.. she's really good against the less mobile mids, since they can't just jump over her snare and punch her in the face

She is a midlane mage who suffered 2 much and 2 severe nerfs after her release and uprising as support. Basically she is the same as morgana atm altough Morg is at least viable in both role while Zyra gets horribly outclassed on both areas.

The only pro she has is her monster dmg , but everything else (squishy, easily focused, item hungry, mana hungry, roams badly, CC are skillshots etc) makes her a very questionable pick.

You can play her. Her damage output is all kinds of absurd, and she has Azir-class zone control in the late game.

The current meta is not so good for her. She loses to assassins like Zed and to long range poke mages like Xerath. Zyra would prefer to see Orianna, Lulu, that sort of thing. Expect to need to play the early game cautiously.

Yea thats pretty much what i thought, i just love how much aoe dmg she has and was looking for an exuse to play her. well i guess shes s nice support pick and not much else. unless im facing an immobile mage type champ. She does counter annie quite well and her big stupid bear XD

Depends who you face. She has a lot of counters that can have an easy time with her. But she has enough tools to handle most of them. She's just not as easy as most champions that go mid. But no, she's not weak.

Play safe till level 2 when you can harass with WQ. Try not to use too much mana before then. She has one of the best AA animations for a mage. As well as high range. Safe shouldn't be too hard.
If it's a fight you don't feel good in you can start with E, just don't plan on harassing as well as you could with Q start. This is mainly if you are worried about the jungler coming in before you're 3.
Ward very well. Your CC is avoidable and you're one of the slowest champions in the game. You need vision and you need to understand positioning. Just because your W gives vision in a small area, doesn't mean it's a ward.
Zyra's WQ bring a lot of zoning. When they go in to CS or try to harass you, landing the Q with a seed will make the plant continue to AA the champion till you AA something else or they move out of it's range. This is worth about 2.5 spells worth of damage. Also if you have one up, an AA will turn the plant to the enemy champion.
Zyra is good at stopping lane pushes in the early game that assassins like to do. As they can be very good at harassing you under your own tower. Plants don't die too fast to minions, which can be enough to hold the lane till your minions get there. A W/E is great at this.
She can be amazing bait material. Even if you die. She will do massive damage to a team that piles on her. Don't sell her damage short. Her plant damage adds up fast. Just don't use the plants too much when you know there is a lot of AoE and not a lot of CC happening. Examples being Karthus/Mundo. Avoid using too many plants on/near them. Obviously you shouldn't go off and try to die.
Base your build on what you area facing. If you think you can use your plants a lot, focus on a MR pen build with Liandry+Rylia. If you don't feel safe depending on your pets, a high AP build works too.

Overall, play safe and aim for teamfights.

Thanks man that helps alot. doesnt alt clicking diret the plant to that target? wasnt sure if it was working or if i just aa them and it hit them because of that.

Im likeing her mid so far tho, im 4-1 with her and as long as i play safe and wq when they go to farm, i feel like ahes pretty good. and i save the snare for either a kill or if i get ganked, working pretty well. she seems very op if played right lol

or it could be bacuse im in bronze 4 and i play like im in gold XD. The slow grind... Vayne

Lol Zyra mid is actually pretty viable. She will have a bit of a rough game vs assassins, but if you build zhonyas it can swing more towards your favor. I usually start item 2041 with her for the early sustain, and because her mana can be a bit of an issue. The flask helps her stay in lane for a lot longer than she otherwise could, and it doesn't lose too much in terms of damage when you consider that you have sustained damage with your plants.

Zyra is my main, I absolutely love her mid and support. Mid she has a ton of safe poking if placed correctly and she is great at baiting her opponent into doing something stupid. Zyra is def not a CLICK ONE KILL LOL FACEROLL champion she takes time and good placement to do well. Now in mid lane I usually just focus on farming and poking rather than getting the kill because she is far better in team fights, and for the most part your lane mate might get fed up with waiting and do something dumb which will allow you to snare and q them until they die. Zyra also does better the more early magic pen you can get. I usually run some magic pen runes or hybrid runes and i do really well with her. Her plants REALLY excel off magic pen and she will begin to hurt REALLY badly.
