New Champ Select Mama Drama!
Weren't we all so excited when the patch dropped that allowed us to select our Primary and Secondary choices for carnage? Didn't we line up to "oooh" and "aaaah" when we realized that our days of screaming our chosen lane at our fellow teammates was over (especially since they didn't listen and insta-locked their champ anyway)? However, now that the initial awesomeness has worn off and our melted faces have returned to their original states, let's take a moment to fix a substantial flaw or two (with your good graces, of course, dear Rioteers)!
First and foremost, let's address the oh-so-obviously-broken "Fill" option that is available when getting ready to start a match. To the average gamer, "Fill" looks like a dream come true - a way to get a random role and test your multi-laning godliness in a spontaneous fashion. How best to showcase your wide collection of skills and prove you aren't and One-Lane Lame-O? Unfortunately, this isn't the case. As it turns out, "Fill" is just a simpler word for "Support", not to be confused with the actual option of "Support", which will instead... no, wait... they both do the same thing. Yep, that's right. "Fill" will get you the undisputed role of "Support" 100% of the time (or near enough, as mine was 16 games in a row - though not all in one day of course.......).
THE FIX? I've heard many suggest the best fix to this problem would be to add a temporary cooldown on each role that a player can get stuck with when choosing "Fill". Example: If I chose "Fill" and was given "Support", then the next time I choose "Fill", the game will automatically be unable to give me Support. The option won't even be there for the system to chose for me for at least one more game.
ANOTHER OPTION: Make optional roles less optional based on previous choices - except for "Fill". Example: I just chose "Mid" and was given the role. After this game, Mid will not be available as a Primary option for at least one more game.
Catch my drift? Oh, I think you do.
Let me know what you guys think. If you have found the same problem to exist, add a comment and let's get this ball rolling.
