why are LP team-based?

Even if we screen teams very carefully, we only get one cheap dodge per day, and, even if their stats look ok, we can't know whether they're gonna be decent teammates or not. They could troll intentionally, screw up hard because they're titled or just very bad in a specific situation. They could be lagging. At low elo, teams are so bad the game is unplayable. So why should individual rank be based on the random teams we get?

Because if it was based off of Gameplay either A: it would be too easy to get a higher rank Or B:The bar would be raised tenfold in order to get better rankings. Having it based off games shows that you can power through the worst of it and that you deserve a higher ranking. I've had some people (randos) who I duo with after a good game. During champ select some would demand I dodge because they dont trust the team based off stats. I have never been a fan of dodging so we play the match anyways. Sometimes we lose and said person is grumpy but there are times where we win. People who check stats and dodge are already judging the skill of other players based only on their stats. Often times stats are true I admit, but its filtering who you want to play with in an effort to get better games. Therefore it makes sense for it to be team based.
