How do you beat a soraka?

I just don't understand how you are supposed to win anything when they have a soraka. If we focus the adc soraka ults and her normal heal for 800hp while the rest of the team kills us. I we go for soraka the adc kills us. We lost every teamfight even though we were almost equal in gold and I even got us 2 dragons ahead by smite stealing. They beat us every time because soraka just healed everyone back up an ungodly amount. It makes no sense. She just stands in the back keeping everyone alive as we get killed. They didn't have a single tank on their team but because her ult heals them all way to much we couldn't kill them. Can someone please shed light on how we would win?

You have a few options. You can focus Soraka first, usually the best option. You can also attempt to burst down your primary target hard enough that she can't help them. Another option is to split her away from her ideal heal target. Her heal has fairly short range, so if you can split her from her squishies they'll die quickly without her being able to help. A riskier way to try to deal with her is to poke at her a lot pre-engage, but make sure you don't give her any Q's to heal up. These are the ways I've had people try to deal with me when I play her.

You just so happened to be fighting a good Soraka, not many of those left.

People seem to misjudge the importance of the support, they are the ones truly holding the team together.

The only way you can beat a good support is to learn how to work together as a team. If she is sitting in the back healing, then teamfights are essentially a 4v5 for them. If you work together as a team well, you should be winning almost every 5v4 teamfight.

In lane you focus down Soraka. If you're a poke support you poke her down, if you're Leona or Thresh you all in her. Sounds stupid because you have an adc free to try and wail on you, but Soraka's purpose in lane is to make a fight feel like you're fighting 2 or 3 of hr ADC based on her heals. Early game if you hit Soraka hard enough their ADC shouldn't have the damage to kill you (especially since the ADC doesn't get any buffs from Raka like they would from Lulu, Nami, Leona, Sona, etc), if you kill Soraka your ADC ends up ahead, if you force Soraka to back you can successfully zone their ADC from the farm which again puts your ADC at a gold advantage.

In a teamfight you need to focus Soraka down first. Soraka is going to be standing in the backline by her carries. Use AoE ablities if you can to try and hit both the ADC/APC you need to kill and Soraka. If you can hit both of them at once Soraka won't have the HP to heal them without ulting and she won't have the HP to sustain a fight either.

Also when in a teamfight your team needs to focus the same target Raka's ult is strongest when all of her team have taken a bit of damage. Something like a Katarina ult or a Ziggs ult, or an Orianna ult will make Soraka's ult a lot more efficient. If you focus 1 or 2 people down then her ult isn't really worth it.

Her Q gives an ungodly amount of sustain when she builds AP, try to dodge that. (I tanked more than 6000 damage one fight, despite only having 2000 hp)

Keep the Assassin away from her, Equinox makes her a deathtrap. A Garen though can easily take her out, when he can get to her.

Start the fight with focussed burst to either take out Soraka or the adc, before she can heal. (especially if she is silenced or stunned)

Then If her ult is up, focus one target so her team heal is wasted. If her ult is down, spread your damage, because she can't heal everyone at once, especially if there is some distance between them.
