23 Champs

Anivia Annie Ashe Brand Chogath Heimerdinger Karthus KogMaw Lux Malzahar Morgana Nasus Soraka Swain Syndra Taric Urgot Varus Veigar Velkoz Vladimir Xerath Zyra

If you're really good at champion knowledge you might notice that these are the ONLY 23 champions in the game that have ZERO mobility in their kits. They all have ways to impede enemies movement, but they've no dash or movement speed enhancement ability or trigger. (Items obviously don't count.) I bring this up because many of these champions lack in many places to keep up. It doesn't matter if it's the League of Assassins, or the League of Tanks, or the League of Mobility (which we all know is the real League that LoL is no matter what the meta is), all of these have always suffered from zero mobility coming from their kits. I say suffered meaning they don't see a lot of play (there's some exceptions to this, mostly in the support role though) and when they do see play they get bullied and picked on by all the Riven/Vi/Nidalee/Yasuo mobile-blow-you-up-before-you-can-even-ping-for-help players/champions out there. And this should be the case! (I'm not saying it's not.) What I am saying is there is a huge lack of what I would call proper balance, zero COUNTERPLAY (to use Riots favorite word for nerfing someone).

This is my proposal: It'll only effect these 23 champions (so maybe some changes to Annie and Morgan - since they're on this list). Give Summoner Spell Flash a 30% Cooldown Reduction if used by a champion with no innate mobility in their kits. (For keeping Annie and Morgan out of this, I'd say give Molten Shield a small MS boost while active, same for Black Shield but only when cast on Morgan herself.)

TL;DR: Give immobile Champs more access to Summoner Spell Flash.

Edit: Thanks to The True Bard and SS Warlock I forgot a few MS enhancements 3 of the champions I listed have, so it should be 20 champs, not 23. Sorry. :) (Those champs they mention are Soraka Urgot Vladimir ) SIREN Berta also mentioned one of the three.

When Vlad pools, he gets a brief movement speed buff. When Urgot ults, he blinks to the targets location.

Also soraka runs faster towards wounded allies.

Good point, forgot about that... lol I guess I mean 20 champs. (Forgot Urgot ult. Also that Vlad MS boost is still weird imo.)

Saminal1 votes

Right, fUrgot ult. (Wish i could say that I had intended to so I could make that pun, but I didn't.) Also, Vlad's brief MS buff when he pools is undocumented on leagueoflegends.com, but I see it on the wiki.

One thing you are missing though is that all of these champions except Vlad have abilities that hinder or stop movement. Whether it be slows, roots, or stuns.

Saminal1 votes

I'm not missing that at all. I say it in the 2nd sentence. Also, Vlad's pool slows enemies above him.

Yes you did. DOH!

I don't know if you realize this, but Ashe has become a strong LCS pick after her rework; Annie, Morgana, Kog'Ma, Cho'Gath, Varus, Karthus, Valdimir, all strong picks in the LCS, some even current pick or bans; Nasus, Swain, Heimerdinger, Malzahar, and Vel'Koz (this guy has had literally no balance changes), all as strong as they always are; Xerath is incredibly strong (and the payoff for having no mobility is having insane AoE damage and wave clear (you can clear an entire normal creep wave with 2 abilities with only an Amp Tome).

The other champions on your list have other problems, not due to a lack of mobility (like Syndra), or they are just currently out-classed by other champs on your same list (why play Lux when there is Xerath?), or they are still really strong, but people just don't want to play him, because at the same time as people love to complain about mobility, they also love to play it, so less mobile champions, while still very strong, are just not played as much

I don't mean to say they're not good, or that they're bad champions (all of my mains are on this list expect a few). My point to making this list is to offer them something more than just a Flash that everyone else also has, and can just follow them with. Even what I propose won't stop this from happening, it'll only make it so they will have Flash up sooner, since they've no other way to get out or get away.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm curious about what your thoughts are about my actually proposal. Giving them a reduced cooldown on Flash. I assume you're saying they are fine and don't need this compensation, but why? I disagree, for the reasons of them always being outclassed and outscaled by high mobility. NONE of them have higher damage than Ekko, or Riven, or Vayne, or Nidalee, or Azir. Especially since they have low mobility they can't roam as well and get kills like those with high mobility. The only one on the list that I would say has exceptionally high damage (I'm only talking numbers here, actually base damage and any ratios abilities have) is Malzahar. His numbers are higher than most, while most all others have more closer numbers.

Don't try and hijack the thread (and really? You named the champion after yourself?)

Mister Modesty1 votes

What's your point? Oh! You're a self-entitled douche bag. Gotcha.

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

No, I'm just interested in keeping the integrity of each individual thread. If this were a thread saying "post you champion concepts!" I would be perfectly fine with you posting it; but that's not with this thread is, so your post was not right. (and still, at least come up with a different name then your own summoner name)

It said "23 Champs", so I figured people would be interested in it from a thread with such a caption. The title is vague, so I figured people interested in new character concepts might look here. If you're not interested, why not just ignore it? Do you have to belittle my idea with absolute nonsense?

No one cares now that you made yourself look like an ass. Go away

Urgot has mobility with his ult!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can count at least 13 of these champs that have seen serious play in the past couple of years in LCS. 7 more champs that I see fairly regularly in Solo-queue. And maybe another 4 that while not popular are still very effective in the hands of those that play them. I'm not saying that mobility creep ins't an issue in LoL. But you aren't really making a point with this list of champions.

While I agree that competitive play is a good place to start when looking at balancing issues, I don't think it's an end all place. I don't think an end all place actually exists when it comes to champion balance (especially the mobility aspect of it). I think that a simple bit of more access to Flash to those most reliant on it won't hurt the game, and only help these champions feel less handicapped.

But why? You admit that they aren't bad champions. Many are actually strong. If they are strong the way the are, why give them something extra just because?

A quick example is that giving Annie more flashes isn't just a little something extra. It's a huge buff. Or you have Anivia who is(despite her lack of mobility) actually pretty hard to kill, since you have to fight past her slows/stuns/walls/damage/flash and then finally you get her and she turns into an egg(possibly to teleport away), and then you give her a shorter CD on flash? Nasus with more mobility? The only thing that keeps him in check is his lack of mobility, and actually that's a pretty strong theme for a lot of these champions.

Most of these champions do not have more mobility for a reason.

I must say that some have small speed boosts but it's like they have none and they are very prone to kiting Darius Trundle Mordekaiser being fine exemples

Saminal1 votes

Very true, I had Darius and Mordekaiser on the list for a while until I remembered they did have some small speed boosts.

Of the 23 champs you list, 12 have seen LCS play this year, when you list 20, 10 have (that I remember, there maybe more). I don't think that there is a good case that champs with 0 mobility as a group need any specific buff. In fact, of your whole list, I think Anivia and Zyra are the only ones not in a good place right now. Probably Taric too, but he was seen in competitive last week, so maybe not.
