How do I avoid being dived on by an enemy hero

(Sorry if this is the wrong board, I'm new here) I have played league for a while now, most of my plays have been as teemo, but I've started to branch out to other champions. But back to the point, I have noticed, and it is becoming more and more frequent, I get completely shut down by enemy champions (especially top lane) that just sit in front of the creep wave (or just behind it) and when I get anywhere near completely ignore them and just take me down. I have had too many damn games where I didn't even get to level 10 by 15 minutes because I couldn't do anything to stop them from killing me when I hit exp range in lane. I am wondering how do you stop this? What ways can you avoid it from even starting? And please, I'm getting frustrated as is, and having a hard time just launching league, let alone playing it because of this, please no replies of crap like "git gud" or something like that

[DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT THAT GOOD AT THIS GAME BY ANY MEANS. I HAVE NOT PLAYED EVERY POSSIBLE CHAMPION OR MATCHUP, SO I MAY BE SPEAKING IN THEORY. TAKE ANY ADVICE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION]

I probably won't be able to provide much help, but it might help to know which champions you play, vs. which champions you're having trouble with.

Going to have to mention, there ARE 'Lane Bullies' where they have a naturally strong early game, usually because they're good at dueling and trading damage with the enemy, but as the game goes on they become less effective, usually because they don't have a strong presence in team fights.

Generally, against a lane bully, it's probably best to play safe, buy defensive items, and just wait it out: You probably won't get much out of the lane yourself, but at least you're not giving said lane bully tons of gold with which they can start roaming and bringing their power to OTHER lanes.

EDIT: For future reference, this kind of question would probably be good for the Tips & Tricks board, where you need to learn "How do I play against [X]?" or "How should I be playing [X] and what items should I build?" and you actually DO want answers, instead of just wanting to complain like a lot of people do on the Boards.

I see what your saying here, but I'll use a game I had earlier that prompted this post to see if that makes it clearer. I was nasus laning against wukong. At about level 3, any time I would go anywhere within vision range of him, he would instantly disengage the creep he was fighting and jump on me. And being nasus early game, I would be slaughtered. he did this to me until I tried to switch lanes, then he followed me and just started the process over again. By 18 minutes in, I was level 7, fighting a level 14 wukong. I was not deliberately feeding him.

[REFER TO MY DISCLAIMER ABOVE]

Well, worth noting that Nasus specifically is known for a weak early, and if left alone for any period of time, is suddenly banging at your Inhibitors with an extra 600 stacks. So in this case, Wukong was probably actively trying to punish you for any stacks you tried to get, which is not a bad strategy when facing someone that can infinitely scale.

Did you build defensive items as Nasus (With what gold you had to work with)? Except MAYBE a Sheen (Big Maybe), Nasus doesn't really need to build for offense, since he gets it all from his Q stacks. I'd imagine it'd also be tough anyway considering Wukong has an armor shred ability. (And yes, it sounds like you were very starved for gold anyways)

I'm going to assume the Wukong would engage, then IMMEDIATELY use his decoy to avoid retaliation, so you couldn't easily Wither him. Maybe having a pink ward nearby would help, or using a sweeper trinket to reveal the stealthed Wukong might have worked. Don't know the full details of the game, so sorry if one of my suggestions is something you've already tried or know about.

Not too much help I can offer, just because I distinctly remember having trouble against Wukong in lane myself (Playing Gnar), and there was a point I didn't feel I could do anything either (Not "he is now twice my level" bad, but still "I can't go into lane" bad).

Now, I don't know if that's intrinsic to Wukong himself, if he's just a super lane bully, or it might just be a bad matchup if you don't have hard CC on demand.

EDIT: Anyone else you might need to know about? I'll admit that top lane is often called an island, because it's away from major early objectives, and without outside help, it can be pretty easy for one side to snowball over the other.

EDIT2: I'll gladly share what little I know, but it's pretty late at night for me, so it might be a while before I respond.

start flask and tons of potions and just farm under tower with your q, use w on wukong if he trys to come at you. generally i find if im playing a matchup i dont know or i expect to get harassed a lot i start with a flask and health pots. maybe watch a couple videos on youtube about wave managing like freezing the wave and stuff and learn why its effective to zone early game if u have an advantage. top lane is mostly about wave management. make sure to check your runes, u usually want to run armour seals and magic resist glyphs, its a good general thing to do if u dont have many rune pages and adds an extra bit to your tankiness earlygame

What's a "hero?"

T Bone Hamsteak1 votes

First, doesn't help at all. Second, I originally played dota before quit because of the chaoticness that is dota. (That, and pudge hook op)

I'm just poking a little fun.

It's nothing to get anyone's knickers in a twist, but I do recommend brushing up on the terminology.

if u wanna be extra cheesy and you notice your agaist an ad or ap champ u can have a page with armour seals/glyphs or magic resist seals/glyphs, gives u a much safer lane but doesnt help your mid/late game as much but by then who cares about 10 arm or mr u can stack defensive items later in game.
