Why this game retains it's numbers.

Let's face it, where once this was a really fun game with a lot of skill involved it has now turned into a formulated game where 1 person will lose you an entire match. Which is why a lot of people are quitting. However I'm here to talk about the real reason why everyone else hasn't quit yet. And sure there are a bunch of reason why you keep playing but only 1 sticks out in my mind. Right now there isn't a game that's out there and worth devoting time into, back in the day it used to be WoW and guild wars. Then there was a bunch of things like mass effect, halo, call of duty and the like. However right now as it stands there are only a handful of games that are worth playing and none of them are super deep to the point of where you wanna spend your days and nights playing them.

Once a game comes along that everyone wants to play and likes to play the numbers on this game will dwindle down to nothing, that's a promise.

This is actually very true. The only reasons I keep playing League; Out of a hope that someday games will feel the same way they used to. Because I can't think of anything else to play. Because Diamond evaded me once by a very slight margin, and I'd like to accomplish what I missed out on the first time around.

The latter feels impossible because either I've gotten worse at the game, or balance is just straight up not in my favour. Becoming increasingly clear that the 1st is unlikely to happen. Second will probably end with me going back to Fifa, and good riddance, too. At least Fifa doesn't get you called a nerd by girls <_<

Not everyone is like Boards, that's why they keep playing

League of legends was released in 2009. Few games have the lifespan of league. If league were to die today it would still have been a huge success.

Also lets just put it this way. League of Legends isnt going anywhere. It will probably still have DOTA 2 numbers (400,000-500,000) in 2030.

People said "OW will kill league" Guess what. it didnt. "HOTS will kill league" it didnt. Really nothing is gonna kill league. Its going to slow down thats for sure, but the only thing that can kill league is time.

The fact that there are so many people that watch LCS when they don't even play the game is a thing that keeps league so successful. Also I do not think it is going to die anytime soon, again because of esports, it has established itself as an essential to them like basketball has on real life sports. And I doubt there will be a game that everyone wants to play and have fun playing it at the same time to the point where it would get like 100.000.000 daily players lol

Yea, remember the LoL killer overwatch? Oh wait. What about PUBG? Yea.. didnt kill it either. Just face the facts people enjoy the game genuinly and move along, no one needs your doomsday prophecy, if you dont enjoy the game leave, no one is making threads on why you should NOT quit, so why you feel like you need to justify why you want to quit to everyone?

League most likely won't die as they have taken their spot as a more popular MOBA, (Yes yes I know DOTA 2 has higher rewards for winning but you don't see that large of a player base compared to League's) and won't leave anytime soon because they pioneered the 5 v 5 MOBA's playstyle to Esports. I really wish they would implement Variety in their system or become more Player oriented like they were in the past (But that was just to increase their player base) with people made tourneys funded by riot or lenience on their rules so content creators could try doing their own spin of the game (Dunkey is a big example of this). They are making the game way too stressful to play and a lot more serious than it was back then which hinders the experience and is driving some veteran players to quit. I do believe in other games bringing something new to the table like Skylords Reborn (Reformed version of BattleForge that is being powered by the ambitions of the players who want it to return. They are currently going through long strides of code and time to bring it back over the course of approximately 2-3 years).

Kind of naive for you to think that you are right now when so many before you have thought the same thing, what makes your claim different from the others?

Dubshoka4/15/2018, 8:03:45 PM3 votes

I think the feel of a game is greatly underrated. League plays better than other mobas, balance aside. There's still improvement to be made, but the general feel of playing the game feels better.

It's one of the reasons WoW was/is so popular. Polish. Just felt clean to play.

You know how this sounds? [zombie-brand-facepalm] [slayer-jinx-unamused] If there is a better game, this game will go down. Really. Nobel price. Sensational.

And just to let you know. There is no other board then here in NA talking about this. Only here all day long. Just boring.

Meanwhile. In China there are about 110-115million, 90% of them are ranked accounts (2018) of LoL on 28 servers. Perhaps a drop of 10 million since 1 year. Not more. The rest of the world seems to have dropped about 20millions, out of this about 7millions in NA, 13millions out of rest of the world (except China). So - about 10% drop also y2y [excluding the drop of 50% in NA].

Around 10% (excluding na). You can assume 20% or 25% and it will not make a difference. Still a number playing wich is more then any 2 other games in the world you could mention together, around 190 million active accounts (China included).

Maybe only 8million of them in NA left because NA is traditionally said to be more an "ego-shooter-country". But League is far away from any "dying". And yes I can (and have in past) deliver some data about what I said above.

This is very spot-on. I keep saying it. The game will be obliterated by real competition. It just doesn't have any yet.

TheLegendaddy4/16/2018, 5:28:46 AM2 votes

I always leave this game as soon as a big title (god of war soon) releases. Only when i have absolutely no other game to play do i pick up league again. Which i understand is just my opinion. Then the constant frederick F***s matchmaking kills all joy or feeling of progression. Hardly any games do you feel your team was trying to win and coordinate because that is what makes league so fun/satisfying. Nope, it was a 40min flame session where you walk away from the pc pissed off asking yourself why you logged in to begin with.

For the record, 1 person has always been able to throw league games, it was the fact that 1 person could also carry a league game that made it even. Now that isn't even a thing.

Gotta dig man, I actually found a game I am enjoying right now (Planetside 2) My 2 devoted friends of which 1 has spent over 1000$ on league has pretty much almost quit. The other has nothing else to play so he tortures himself and I hop on occasionally if I am feeling masochistic. I think the biggest problem right now with people that play is they are not willing to try to heavily dive into another game and this also includes high elo streamers. I imagine a lot of the streamer audience is afraid to switch because they will lose a lot of the income they make and it is understandable fear. Neace seems to be on an indefinite break for awhile and he was a very educational streamer that taught me a lot of mechanics and different ways to deal with opponents. It is just really sad at this point. I would legitimately pick this game up again full time if Morello came back.

I just love the game and I'm confident there are plenty of people like me out there :) we aren't all Debby downers

Once a game comes along that everyone wants to play and likes to play the numbers on this game will dwindle down to nothing, that's a promise.

People used to say this for Overwatch and now Fortnite. And here we are yet again, League not taking a single impact in its playerbase due to these FotM games. These games aren't even the same genre as League so talking like they're the next big League "killers" is just a blown up overstatement for the sake of riling up the crowd.

League currently occupies quite a safe space for a game of its size. It's F2P, it's very popular, it's competitive and it has a big pro scene that's being watched by a lot of players on Twitch. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Perhaps one other F2P MOBA comes out that can parry League's initial success by offering something different to their players (and a necessary break/replacement for a select few League players) but there are already a few giants occupying the same space, namely DotA 2 and Smite. Even Battlerite didn't live up to its hype after literally every streamer and their mother jumped to play it in between queues and made a few videos about it.

Don't hold your breath for the next League killer or you're going to wait a long time. Given how big of a hit League actually is, there's literally no way for it to completely die off and lose all of its playerbase. Not even the Great Dumpster Fire (Dynamic Queue) killed it. And that was literally a full seasonal fuckup.

"This game use to take skill and was perfectly balanced in the past. All they do now is cater to the noobs and now the game takes NO skill!!" -every sad fanboy from any franchise in history desperately clinging to Nastalgia.

I'm serious. I seen the same things said through most franchises ive been a fan of. Kinda fishy

I feel like people who make these posts just wish the game to die. They no longer enjoy the game for various reasons and butt hurt so they want everyone else to suffer. League wont die, Wow didn't die, and Dota didn't die. These posts have been made since S1 lmao. Plus WoW has BFA coming out, so I don't know why you even put it on that list. Shoot, you can even find the same exact threads on the WoW forums, typical forum culture. Another X game is dying bandwagon thread. Plus you do realize that people who post in boards/forums are an extremely small minority? Yeah, good luck on getting your wish that the game will die.

As someone who played since Season 1, the game is not dying, and it is still fun in my opinion. inb4 salty sheeple downvotes

I don't think League will dwindle, I honestly think Riot will listen to people. It's possible they're trying to work something out but they don't want to let us know yet. I've never played a game like League and the feeling of winning and knowing that I helped pushed our team to victory is the best feeling ever.
