How to beat Kennen as Riven?

Title. This has been a nightmare for me these last few games. If I'm not feeding like a scrub, then I'm barely getting enough farm to allow me to not be useless by the time the laneing phase ends.

Am I just a scrub lord and theres an easy fix that I'm oblivious to or am I a scrub lord and I should just swap lanes with someone else the instant a Kennen gets picked top and I was too stupid to ban him?

(Shout out to the recent teams I've been having, being cool with me despite me being a useless Riven main all game whenever I fight a Kennen. You guys rock.)

You are allowed to tell me to git gud if thats all it is to it. I'm well aware I'm not very good at Riven yet.

By playing hard and having CDR in your runes and masteries. His E's CD is a lot longer than your Q/E CD's, you force him to use it and then go in hard on him, and be ready to use the bushes to hide or minions to block as you pull back out.

Don't be afraid to get an early hexdrinker or merc treads. Rush either caulfield's or phage, experiment with what's comfortable.

Agreed your best bet is to make him waste a cd and engage with your shorter cd's. Also stepping in and out of bushes, juggle his vision and in and out of minion cover. It will likely piss him off and make him over extend enough for you to engage.

You can't really beat him. If he sees you Q he'll just E away and tower camp until it's back up. No amount of MR can really save you from a Kennen that lands his Qs with ult. There's a reason why he got nerfed recently, probably will get nerfed again.

You can't, and that's how it should be. He counters her. Counters are a good thing despite what Riot says.

Counters are toxic. Ideally you'd have only skill match-ups, but that isn't always possible I suppose. Getting counter picked just makes up for a miserable experience where you can't do jack because someone skillfully counter picked you.

Thankfully Riot agrees that's not healthy gameplay.

Counter are not toxic. You know what you could do instead of laning in that lane anyways? Lane swap. I know you have no idea what im talking about because we've had the same damn meta for 3+ years.

I disagree. Maybe this is my fighting game background speaking, but you should never just straight up lose a bad matchup just because of counter picks. It should always be about skill, or ranked play (which I will add I don't play for reasons being I play a completely different game competitively) is completely meaningless. If skill isn't the deciding factor, then whats the point? Even if its a uphill battle, there should always be the possibility of winning.

For example, in Blazblue, I'm not going to just not pick Noel into Tager even though that matchup makes me want to bawl like a toddler, simply because the matchup is still winnable if I'm good enough.
