Picked your champ? Nope, forced dodge instead! LP Loss for you, good sir!

Here I am, trying to play a match and suddenly I get a forced dodge. I clicked my champ but failed to click lock in... So now, I get the queue dodge penalty of waiting and an LP loss after I consciously chose the champion I wanted. I'm obviously not AFK, as I've already chosen my champ. Honestly, I liked the fact that I could pick a champ before and let it time out without clicking lock in. Then if I changed my mind and thought of a better strategy with another champ I could do that. If not, then it locks in my first choice which I left it to auto lock on.

Rito PLZ, can you fix this???

Did you not read the popup when you go into the new champion select saying

"You must LOCK IN or it will dodge" ?

My point, is it was nicer when you could leave it there. It's just so much more convenient. It's not like I didn't click a champ. Before you could click a champ and leave it for a second while you finished drinking that water or whatever you were doing without worrying about it dodging for you not instalocking.

The whole point of requiring people to lock in is to speed up the process, because you'd be in champion select for 5-6 minutes if everyone was allowed to let the clock run down.

I thought it was to stop arguing and miscommunication. If they wanted to make it faster, why would they lengthen the process and have you prepick before you pick. That doesn't make much sense.

The point of forced lock in is to compensate for the time increase caused by stuff like pre-picks.

That doesn't seem like a great reason, though. Just because you show your team what you intend to pick, doesn't change the fact that you might still stumble on who to lock in. Then by the time you decide. BOOM! You dodged. Bye bye series.

Why would you dedicate time to a game that can take 60 minutes and worry about the 5 minute champ select. This is stupid and it needs to be fixed.

I haven't messed with the new system but they should work on improving that function. I understand they are trying to check for AFKs but there are plenty of time when you use the full champion select time. As you mentioned, it could be for that last minute champ change. I typically will use it to fix my runes and masteries accordingly without feeling rushed.

Tsunxmi1 votes

Yeah, I think the system is great for the most part. What my post was about was the only thing I could think of to improve it. Besides, I'm sure Rito likes the feedback so they can make this more social and enjoyable for everyone. I think this patch takes it one step closer to minimizing things that people can argue about. I'm pretty happy about it.

You're one of those people then.

30 minutes of trying to get into ranked because people don't read button or text boxes popping up in the new queue.

30 minutes of someone NOT HITTING THE BRIGHT ORANGE GLOWING BUTTON.

Tsunxmi1 votes

Well, if those people you are talking about right now only do this one time right after the patch, then yes. Besides, I misunderstood it as the first time you pick prebans. I didn't realize that it specified that you have to lock in the second time, as well.

Dude, at the first 30-ish seconds, you had the chance to pick the champion you're planning to play without any Lock In needed. So why in the world did you changed your mind again when it's your turn to pick a champion?

Tsunxmi1 votes

Because you actually saw the enemy team, and your pick was a bad idea?

Habitz1 votes

All you have to do is hit lock in? just hit it and be happy!

Tsunxmi1 votes

Well yeah, but what if I picked my champion and someone diverts my attention for two seconds, I forget to lock, and now I get a dodge after I already chose my champ. That doesn't seem very fair.

Habitz1 votes

At the point of your select you should be confident enough in your pick to go ahead and lock in

Tsunxmi1 votes

Yeah, I agree. But, sometimes you might change your mind. So let's say you are back and forth between your first and second pick, then you are so focused on that that you don't lock. Now you gotta wait 5 minutes and lost LP. I don't think it's the biggest deal, but I think it's an easy fix and an easily understood issue.

Habitz1 votes

I'm sorry but i feel that if this will encourage people to lock in their champ then the transitional frustration is worth the wait. I can understand some people legitimately using that time to weigh pros and cons between two champs but mostly it's people clicking every champ they own or knowing exactly who they want to play but choose to make others wait unnecessarily the full pick time anyway.

Tsunxmi1 votes

Yeah, I mean that's definitely annoying. I don't think it happens enough, though. Lol, here we are 3 days later, and it is so common to see the dodges. I did it once on the first day, but damn, lol. I still think it should be fixed, though. I don't think the dodges will stop. XD

There's nothing to fix, it's how they designed it, no matter how you complain to be comfortable. Lock in your choice.

Tsunxmi1 votes

That doesn't sound like a very good defensive argument. It's how it is so shut up and like it. That sounds like a parent who doesn't understand how to explain their rationality.

Guest you will learn your lesson won't you.

"Riot I made a mistake fix the system!" Lolz

Tsunxmi1 votes

Well, lesson learned, yeah. But, I still think it's an easy fix and would make a lot of people happy. Especially those who like to walk away for a second to use the bathroom or something before a match.

SkoodleMoose1 votes

I completely agree. I like to use the full champ select timer to consider all champion possibilities and discuss strategies with my team mates. Then i make a last minute decision to use a different champ (thinking i still have time) and bam auto dodge before the little bar even completely runs out. Need an extra second to lock in before dodge? TOO BAD IT'S INSTANT. Screw this system i just lost 83 lp to this crap and i'm tired of it.
