Penalized for leaving a bot match

Plasmafrog··30 votes·4,916 views

I didn't even know this could happen to be honest. Was just running bot matches since I could have to excuse myself at any moment and didn't want to ruin anyone's game, but I got penalized for 5 matches anyhow.

Anyone think there should be no penalties for leaving bot matches? This just seems kind of absurd considering that I rarely am forced to leave a match.

Although it would be completely fair since an enemy bot also leaves, I feel like it would set a bad precedent, especially for new players. It would sort of show that it's okay to leave a match, which is probably why you got punished.

Its a game. If people are going to get butthurt because someone has a life- maybe people need to get a life.

You should only leave games for an emergency, not "because you have a life."

Playing a match is still a commitment. It's why you don't leave abruptly in the middle of a meal or movie or whatever else with your friends/families/acquaintances because you feel like it. Queuing up to a match is like making plans, and you need to follow through unless there's an emergency (what constitutes an emergency can differ, it can be a major as your house burning down or as minor as needing to use the bathroom). Leaving because you feel like it, however, is shoddy.

If you can't stay for the entire game because "you have a life," then it shouldn't be a problem if you get punished by the game for it. We agreed to the TOS, after all.

but sometimes somebody knocks on your door, and you have to answer it, and when you get back, u get a prio que for bieng afk for a bit. Cmon

IcyPepper4 votes

Okay, that's going a little far. I mean, I go to college, I have my fair share of needing to answer the door.

Your team can survive five seconds without you, I hope. Unless it's during a teamfight. Or ranked.

throws hands up

Ah fuck it. There's just too many variables. Afk at your discretion, and do your best and blah blah blah.

Rammus Soup2 votes

That's what I'm saying- life happens. I can't ignore it simply because I'm in a match. That's stupid and irresponsible. My responsibilities outside of this game supersede my responsibilities to a game.

Angry Monster2 votes

then do not play league. No one gets in trouble for running to a door for 30 sec. The afk system does not even detect at that point.

I await the day you are permma banned. Wait you are on a smurf, probably have been.

i think if there is.no penalty people can just go into a bot game, afk, and get free exp and ip.

Tails Doll4 votes

which it's a horrible way to level up and get IP. You probably get more from dominion matches...

DracosKasu1 votes

When you are away from keyboard you can let a program run the queue for you an get xp-ip for free witch isnt allow in your account creation contract.

Tails Doll1 votes

I know, that's why I said dominion it's better.

DeynaTaggerung1 votes

I don't think you get IP or EXP for games that are counted as "Leave"

So make AFKers not get exp/IP. Problem solved.

I feel ya man I feel if it's bots there is no need.

Glad I'm not the only one. I wonder if they do it to prevent botters from gaining xp.

The bots gain exp regardless.

If U were playing with bots, that's really weird for that to happen; but if U were playing with other players against bots, then yeah U shouldn't just leave games. U'd be compromising the experiences of other real players, affecting their ability to win the game and/or play as a team.

Tails Doll2 votes

I dont know if they changed it, but before, if a player went AFK, so would a bot champ, until you break an INH i believe.

Ability to win the game... against bots...

Pretty sure that after three items any human player could wipe the floor with bots, even on intermediate. 4v5 would be more interesting, but definitely not a lost cause. Yeah, if one of the human players leave, you might not get that sick 20:1 KDR, but you'll win the game.

Imo, even leaving bot games should be penalized. If there were no consequences of doing so, new players might think that that's nothing bad and start leaving PVP matches. Player should see from the very beginning that it's not okay to leave any match and that it brings bad consequences.

Adalore6 votes

Dude, not everyone can rofl carry out of bot matches when they are new to the game. So you are indeed damaging 4 other player's experience of the game.

The trick when you don't have time to play is...not playing. Straight forward but...seriously man, don't play if you can't play.

MrSlowDie1 votes

one of the bot will AFK if someone dc though

Akaterina5 votes

Yeah... I do a bot game daily for my win now since I don't get much time to play atm. Anyways I have been in games where the players were bad enough that if one person left they would probably lose the match. Also, why even play at all if you know you are going to have to leave?

magic pole4 votes

idk I'm pretty sure a bot goes afk if a player does too, so why punish you

High53 votes

I always play a few ai games with new champions and always report people who afk or leave.

The game ends well before 20 mins if you just play. Leaving, besides setting a bad precedent, is incredibly selfish.

Lol in any mode is a team game and any selfish action that wastes my time is a reportable offense. Don't play if you don't care about the other people you're playing with.

blkKalameet3 votes

Any game but solo custom vs ai will punish you for leaving, and should.

You are damaging the game experience for the other players by leaving.

If you want to test a champ or practice, set up a 1v3 intermediate bot game. You can practice for as long as you like without the game, can leave whenever you want, and the bots will provide a decent target to practice combos on with the 1v3 helping you work on positioning. You can always add more bots against yourself to make it more difficult. Just don't expect the laning phase to be a challenge at all.

If new players think it is ok to leave in bot games they would then think it is ok to leave in pvp.

Alakalzam2 votes

It is dumb and I've done it a couple of times, but then I realized I could just surrender the matches. Problem solved. :)

VegasNevada2 votes

You guys seriously want people to get punished for leaving a bot match?

I think if someone constantly leaves bot matches back to back than ok, but it's not that serious considering the average player base destroys bot games anyway. If someone has the occasional, I had to afk a bot match... let it be.

ZGM Permabanned1 votes

IKR i just got 5, 20 min prio ques, because i had to do something for 5 mins, and got dced. So annoying.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Haha, this happened to me when Vi came out. I was still a noob and didn't know AFK was punishable and got banned for a few days

AbyssionKnight1 votes

If you're playing with other players and leave the game, there should be consequences.
