Nerfs. Nerfs everywhere.

So I haven't played the game in a while, but I used to play a lot. I kept in tune with changes and what not, hoping to see something good show up. However, I am just so disappointed that Riot still, after a couple years now, continues to only focus on nerfing abilities. This is driving the game into the direction of minions vs minions. I liked when champions could be unique and powerful and do crazily (seemingly overpowered) things from being fed. Whats the point anymore? Item diversity is boring, champions are boring, the whole game is just boring. Rather than making underpowered champions more viable, they just nerf the ones that are currently doing well, then a champion who was considered mediocre is now overpowered and the cycle continues. It's not interesting or creative, it's lazy and I'm disappointed in what direction Riot chose to take this game to.

Its really sad that I have to agree with you... they've got a serious weakness-creep going on...

Then what would you do about it? Propose the perfect solution right now.

Riot was going to have a fighter rework, and then they nerfed randuins buffed rumble and malphite, called it a day and then buffed all adcs

Sad, isn't it? But the problem is that Fighters, or at least the way we understand fighters, just doesn't work. Do you know the last time I played Darius in top lane? A LONG-ass time ago, when I got butchered by a Lulu and realized I never wanted to play Melee tops again

There's so much truth to this statement. I wouldn't have dreamed Irelia would be viable a year ago w/o significant buffs. Here she is now as one of the best top-lane picks and the only change to her has been a bugfix (nerf) to Bladesurge. That's just one example, the other side of the coin are the repeated buffs to ADCs, the class as a whole and especially to Lucian, Kog, Trist and a few others namely. All of who are now being nerfed too, rather than buffing weaker ones like MF or Ashe.

Riot wanted to curb snowballing. It can still be done, but you got to be a lot better than before to do it.

Every attempt Riot has made to curb snowballing has only made it worse (it just takes longer to close the game out) because, as it turns out, they're either too dumb to understand the cause (hint: it's terribly designed itemization) or too lazy to actually fix it.

Actually they did curb snowballing a bit. Killing the same target doesn't yield as much gold and exp as it used to. One particular problem is that people don't know how to stop a snowball.

Largely because there isn't a way in the game to stop a snowball beyond hoping the other team fucks up incredibly badly. It's ridiculously easy to not die in this game, and even if you do, all the other team gets is a little bit caught up. Snowballing as bad as this game has it comes from fundamental design problems (primarily bad item design). Making it easier to stall is not a good solution to snowballing, but Riot seems to think it is.

Wrongo!

This is why it's good to watch pro's play, they like to talk and you learn from what they say. There are a few ways to stop a snowballer.

  1. Shut them down and keep them shut down. Most snowball champs excel in 1v1 fights, a good way to deal with one that is snowballing is to ward up and farm safely while waiting for them to show themselves, then group and catch them out at every opportunity.
  2. Defense scales faster than offense. Been in a situation where you were one shot away from winning that fight in lane? Good news, it's possible to life that tad longer and win the next fight. Ar/Mr/health. Offense may scale harder in the long run, but defense scales faster and will give you a much better chance in lane as opposed to trying to build offense and hoping you can live past their burst to get your own off next time.

I think the other guy was right and that the World Championships between Samsung White vs Starhorn Royal Club demonstrated it. Nobody could stop SSW from snowballing once it started. SHC was able to win one game vs the snowbally lineup, but that had more to due with their pick/bans and having sturdier champs to slow down the ganks/dives. All the other teams SSW played just got run over. I only mention it because watching those pros in S4 it was all about unstoppable snowballing by #1.

The most dangerous snowball champions are ADCs, really. Well, not the ones like Corki or Ezreal, but the hypercarries like Vayne and Tristana. If they start snowballing you probably already lost the game.

It depends on whether your team is two or three threat, but you can't have your two carries building defensive items and expect to win games. Maybe a QSS or GA, but if you're losing fights by inches you either need extreme jungler help or you're just hosed. Gotta suck it up and hope someone else is winning their lane, if you don't have DMG it's like the team lost their carry before the fighting started.
