Additions and Changes To Death Recap
Death Recap can be both useful and useless, depending on the information given. I've thought a bit about this and have come up with a couple of thoughts on how to make death recap a bit more useful.
I won't focus on the issues with death recap, Riot probably already has enough issues with people harassing them on what they already are well aware of.
So some additions to Death Recap that would make it more useful. individually, these are not overhauls or drastic changes, just small additions that would make some of the game easier. Together, I think they would make for a more comprehensive Death Recap system.
- Add total Magic, Physical and mix damage counters
This would help out so much for many different roles. With the current Death Recap, it is sometimes difficult to tell what damage type is truly causing you to actuality die. The champion doing the damage Isn't as useful as the damage type, especially in a team-fight scenario. this addition would make life much easier on tanks, bruisers and what to buy to make the correct counter to the enemy team.
- Add damage counters for each champion
this may seem obvious, but I don't mean a total break down of every passive and every ability damage dealt. I just mean for a counter from all sources of damage from a champion.
Take
for example, instead of saying that he hit you with bandage toss, tantrum, Despair, Curse of the Sad Mummy and a few auto attacks, it would just say 900 magic damage, 400 Physical damage. this would allow you to instantly know who dealt the most damage and enable you to plan accordingly to counter them.
- Separate slots for minion damage
During some team-fights or three man skirmishes bot lane, I've found that i will have one or two slots of the Death Recap dedicated to Minion damage. If you add a separate slot for total minion damage, from all minions, and leave the big three slots open to only champions, this would make the system much easier to read and form a counter against.
- Only put up sources of CC in the Death Recap
Sometimes it might be confusing who preformed certain CC in team fights. This can make the decision of who to focus all the more difficult. This would need to go hand-and-hand with the first change in order to be successful.
My thoughts for these changes are as follows. Knowing the champion that deals damages isn't important, its the type of damage that is dealt. Think of it this way, if you were hit with a car, the type of car doesn't really mater does it? The only thing that matters is the fact the you were hit. Using the same thread of logic, it doesn't matter what champion dealt the damage, it just matters that damage was dealt. On the flip-side, it matters a lot what champion deals the what percentage of the damage.Another thing that is important is what champion deals CC to you. Knowing the damage and CC would allow you to effectively build against any team composition.
