Leona needs a better passive.

I want Riot to make her passive less reliance on teammates. Maybe let her current passive also work for her, with 10% reduced effectiveness? I would love to see her have top lane viability

No, no, and fucking no. People Do NOT want a champion with low CD stuns to do damage like that.

Except Leona barely does any damage at all.

Letting her proc her own passive with reduced values would go a long way towards allowing her to function in other lanes.

I get that she is a support, but her passive is of no use in solo situations. Taric's passive for example is always good in a fight.

You do realize that Leona is actually very capable as a solo laner and a jungler? The fact that her passive procs for allies is also what allows her to excel at these two roles.

No, OP has a point. The only other ally-reliant passive in the game is also worthless.

Couldn't even tell you what her passive it, but I also would like to play Leona solo lane. She just looks so cool.

Somehow there aren't enough cool swords and shields in this game.

Edit: I used to try and get crit Leona to work when my friends and I played troll 5-mans.

You can play Leona in top, and she’s actually not the worst. No self peel or escape though. Or you could play her support lane. And yes, she is cool.

I think I’d like to see her passive have a weakened effect if she activated it, and a stronger one if an ally does. Rewards higher mechanical play around you adc and potentially lets her solo lane.

That, or only let her activate it with her Q, or something along those lines.

Because it’s strooooong.

At level 3 with a full combo you can let your ally proc about 120 damage. Letting Leona proc it herself at less damage would mean you need to either inflict suboptimal damage, or abstain from autoattacking enemies inflicted with the passive to let your adc proc it instead. Letting only other champs proc it is a bit of a handicap in solo circumstances but in general it is of way better benefit to let an actual carry deal the damage, increasing the chance and frequency of them landing the kill.

Eh, just let her be able to proc her passive on jungle creeps so I can take her into the wild.

So... no. I don't think letting her proc on enemy champions is a good thing. But being able to proc on minions and monsters would help her be useful in solo lanes/jungle.
