So I am in silver elo, and I was just trying to play solo queue. I ended up being in two champion selects that were canceled, in both of which I got my preferred role. So after a total 8 minute queue (which I am willing to sit through), I ended up getting autofilled to support. Now I don't want to sit in queue for 8 minutes only to be forced into a 30 minute game on a role I don't find fun, I would much rather sit in queue for 10 minutes (or however long) to then enjoy playing for 30 minutes. I can understand the purpose of autofill, especially in higher elos, and I really like the role selection system. However sometime the role selection feels useless, as it drives up queue times and you get placed into a different role anyway. I propose to make autofill an optional part of the queue, so that the people that want to can choose to have longer queue times.

What you're looking for is called "Fill".

People stopped picking it because it was giving them Support too often, which made others get Support more often, which made them stop putting it... etc, etc, until pretty much the only people putting Fill are Support Mains.

To fix the blunder their system caused, Riot added Auto Fill.

If Auto Fill was optional, you'd have the exact same thing, where everyone turns it off. The only way you could prevent that would be have "auto fill off" players matched only with other "auto fill off" players, but since Support mains don't get Auto Filled anyway that never check it, so your queue time just goes up for no reason (and the system breaks again in high ranks).

My suggestion is after every dodge you leave queue. It increases your chance of getting a primary/secondary role, plus you're less likely to run into players who ban what you picked/hovered only because they saw you in the previous lobby.
