Revert Asol

Quantum Theory º·10/24/2019, 2:01:55 AM·163 votes·22,151 views

Hi summoners ! I'm Quantum theory and I was a Asol main. As many other players, I absolutely hate the mini rework that Asol has received, we are a lot of old players disappointed with the new Asol and some of us have stopped playing him.

The champion became really frustrating and lost what was his essence, he is not even more popular today than he was before and has just lost some big players.

I strongly believe that League of Legends must a be a game with some atypical champions who have some fervent players !

So if you agree with my disagreement, even if you are not Asol players, you can upvote this post !

Warm regards, a sad Asol player

PS: If you find that some sentences are strange, it's because I'm French

He's not trash, but his gameplay is not the same anymore. I mean he still roam, but he cannot win long trade anymore, he lost his dps style like cassio, it's very boring. There is only him ( before ), cassio and ryze that got this gameplay.

Please revert him.

Ryusaether10/24/2019, 5:41:10 AM35 votes

He is not unique anymore and bis damage is so strange to apply now that you have to recast your W everytime. They removed catalyst from GLP and he lost that because he is mana hungry, they reworked him and made him so clunky, he feels like a complete mess.

His gameplay was unique because with his toggle you really felt he was the center of the universe, and you had to reposition during the whole toggle to hit enemies. I would keep the changes on his Q and give him back the passive MS from running in a straight line, I like it that he can rely on MS as a meaningful stat, and revert his W please, I know it was hard to lane against him but then again you can jump on him and he doesn't have much he can do besides a mini Q stun.

I am a sad former A Sol player too. Thxs for posting this.

MrEnds10/24/2019, 12:58:38 PM7 votes

they removed to essence of his unique gameplay (sorta like how aatrox was changed) but this time they removed something EXTREMELY unique and i feel like it wasnt harming the game in any impactful way and should be reverted.

Asol used to be my fav midlaner and one of my fav champs. With the rework I just can’t be pained to play him knowing that riot just gutted his identity despite none of his mains or players wanting this and will just leave him to rot.

I honestly hate when people put up poles like this where the answer is yes or yes, or if you disagree the answer you pick insults you

Dude, where's the "no" option?

I find it funny that I tried blue build Aurelion sol and I find it funny of how much dmg he can do with it.

But I kinda love how unique his kit is and it's alright, I just find that I can build blue Aurelion sol better with it and I have no problem. Maybe it's just me but I dunno what direction Riot was handling with it but maybe they're treating me with kid gloves by then.

It's going to be tough for them to revert anything that they already did. I asked my Zyra's Q to be reverted back to circle shape for mid lane viability but riot still to this day refused to do so. They will give me this bias data/survey from people who never played the old Zyra before and tell me that people like their rework.

Aurelion SOl M7 380k here, main since his relase, this is how much i loved him, some of my saved plays: https://youtu.be/uSiwf9uaha4 . I cant have fun paying him after rework, he feels so slow without E passive ms(his animations look so bad without it), his E at maxed lvl is riddiculus flying with 800 ms is so innacurate and unbalanced i cant make this stun to work now because my team is too slow to follow it up, sometimes my Q detonates for no reason(there is bug, it explodes in halfway map, despite aurelion being close to it) when im trying to make it big. His W is also bad, so frustrating to use now, clicking W every one second after cancelation is just stupid and looks bad, this skill wasnt designed to spam it. The MS buff from W is totally not worth trusting when im running for my life i just need to spam it and cancel all the time, another frustrating point.

Aurelion passive was designed to be stars rotating cosmic dragon, this was one of most unique gameplay styles in game, stop destroying unique mechanics, he is never going to be popular anyway like Lee Sin, Lux, Zed, Yasuo etc Back then I was always excited to pick him mid or sometimes top, now i just dont wanna play this game. Aurelion is now: one shot enemy or be one shoted, stupid and unfunny. I feel like Rito just showed me middle finger, deleting mechanics that i really loved to play with. So much hours spent with AurelionSol so many to master him i was proud to be lvl 7 Sol, it was so satisfying to be one of not many just like with Azir(im lvl 7 too, former main). Many times i saw on chat something like "wow this Aurelion is good, respect" people were amazed how much potential was in that champ.

R.I.P Azir AurelionSol - champions that were too unique and awesome

Rαy10/25/2019, 12:48:51 PM4 votes

My gf mains Sol and she knows that he's not bad since Riot hotfixed him, but she really dislikes his new playstyle.

With previous Sol, you could decide when exactly to be borderline useless (draw in your stars) to conserve mana for example, but new Sol forces you to be periodically useless, which feels really awkward.

I don't know why a rework was necessary at all. His playstyle will remain too unique to substantially grow his playerbase anyway. You are just chasing away the people who fell in love with him.

Sakowitz10/25/2019, 8:38:47 PM4 votes

Hi there, M7 Asol here. I completely agree. I stopped playing midlane because my snow globe collecting dragon got changed. You now have to take electrocute and it feels like I have less control not only in lane, but in chases and teamfights. Old W allowed sorcery as primary, allowing for much more versatile play other than... poke...... electrocute.... back off....

Some might compare this to the ruse change, but that champion is SUPPOSED to be easier to pick up. He’s basically the poster child of league.

Asol is unique, like singed or kalista. These play styles are unique and involve fun strategies that frankly can’t be altered to accommodate everyone. Appeal to the audience Riot. Revert it please.

i understand the pain

I used to be an Azir main ... whilst most may say but hes the same he is not

He has had his range reduced and his entire existence is to exist around the shurima shuffle ... he plays like a battle mage going in due to how awkward his range is ....

When they changed him they asked remove mobility in favour of keeping range or remove range in favour of mobility .... community from posts i saw mainly wanted mobility removed ... yet the opposite happened ... he was nerfed again back to the point before his mini rework so he is now at square one again with a range nerf and miniscule damage due to how strong shuffle is

Azir doesnt feel like an emperor anymore... he lost that magical essence .... i would like him to be reworked around the removal of mobility but i really cant see it happening at all ....

I read all the comments, I'm happy to see we are a lot of former Asol players to have the same feeling!

Feel free to share this post to your friends, to upvote or to leave a comment. I love you all

I was just getting into this dragon right before the mini rework. Now I have no desire to learn him.

xDogMeatx10/25/2019, 2:53:36 PM3 votes

as i said in my previous post about my new auralion sol experience i miss the old version of his W its more fitting for his style of play.

Äkechi10/25/2019, 5:25:46 PM3 votes

They could have done some many good things with Sol like giving him more stars everytime he levels up his ultimate, but instead they took away his niche role as a consistent dps and made him a potato level burst mage.

Keiaga10/24/2019, 3:10:26 AM3 votes

Even though no one plays him he consistently has some of the highest winrates in every elo from iron to masters.

EATARI10/24/2019, 1:39:46 PM3 votes

I will say, the new E felt good. The updates to Q felt good. It’s the W change that felt bad to me. If they could return it to a toggle and balance his kit around it, I would love that. I’m okay with ASol being an unorthodox mage, it gave him a unique identity.

DCYOUNG88810/24/2019, 3:41:01 PM2 votes

When I first saw those changes on twitter and the PBE I was very uncomfortable with these changes and was highly against it. While I am not an Aurelion Sol main, I do play him a decent amount in ARAM and sometimes summoner's rift (before this mini rework came). Now with these changes Aurelion Sol feels very clunky and lost his main identity of high consistent sustained damage as long as he was not hard cc'd or ran out of mana both of which are essential to learning the strengths and weaknesses of Aurelion Sol.

I just want the old w back as well as the e passive movement speed as it helped out in roaming and sometimes spacing between the enemy. Other parts can stay though.

Hemulen Magi10/24/2019, 3:00:51 PM2 votes

I don't play Aurelion, so I can't weigh in much, but I can say that I haven't seen one good thing said about the rework and it seems to have alienated many vocal members of his playerbase. I think a Rioter should create two threads, one on the boards and one on the Aurelion Sol mains reddit, and ask for players to join in a discussion to brainstorm an Aurelion mini-rework (not full vgu) / powershift to a more satisfying playstyle.

In brainstorming, they should also reach some sort of agreement on what Aurelion's core power fantasy, team role, and class is. Is he an opportunist diver / slayer? Is he a frontline battle mage / ap-brawler? Is he a squishy backline ap carry? That information is helpful in order to realize an ideal vision to shape him into.

we havent met10/24/2019, 8:29:40 PM2 votes

Classic boards circle jerk! Asol literally has the highest win rate in mid lane 56.74% The only matchup statistically that he is hard losing is against zed. I swear to fucking god this is why people dont take boards seriously. They always cry for buffs when their champion is actually really good right now.

Tayzzer10/24/2019, 9:49:37 AM2 votes

yeah having some atypical champs is great because these champs can get some fervent players. it would suck if all the weird champs got streamlined

Beacon Academy10/25/2019, 9:46:32 AM2 votes

Does anyone know who lead the charge on the ASol changes though?

Corvega10/25/2019, 12:40:54 AM2 votes

I agree with your post. I think Riot has really been trying to convert all battle mages into burst mages. This change to Sol made him burst quicker but lose dps. Ryze lost his shield, which is what made him a battle mage, and in return got a lot more burst. Swain's ult isn't a toggle anymore and now has burst at the end. Along with these individual changes Riot forgot to update item 3027. They instead took away a item 3010 item away from us (item 3030 ). Speaking of which the eternity passive is hot garbage.

Gatujillo10/24/2019, 9:17:39 AM2 votes

I wish they could give us some feedback about what is going on with the mini-Rework. After the hp buff in 9.18 there are no comments or info related to Asol from riot. Did this changes hit the point?

Najiik1/7/2020, 1:38:25 PM1 votes

I recently came back into this game... and I recently played Aurelion Sol and I'm completely and totally annoyed by this change. Asol has one identity being the "center of the universe" and the problem is that he doesn't really do that anymore. I don't think Riot realizes that they could most likely rework a lot of the components of his kit and then revert his W and no one would really have a problem with it. They've made him "easier" to play for newer people. However, they've made his kit extremely clunky with only 3 seconds of activation you get a few hits off with his stars and then they're pulled back in and he's back to being sub-par. As a person who didn't main Aurelion Sol but enjoyed his kit this is completely and totally annoying, While yes late game the cooldown is so low I can be constantly turning it back on but it's so counter intuitive. Furthermore, if they simply made the duration longer for each level instead a measly 3 seconds it would work much better. Or better yet have the duration of W increase with each level by maybe a second and by max rank it reverts to a toggle. This would allow for the weakening of his early game. While also allowing him to remain that sustained DPS mage. Because he just feels clunky now.

ßlameMyADC10/24/2019, 5:08:17 PM1 votes

They need to revert the E changes (and the passive it comes with) The W speed can stay applied but ramping up Mana Cost and reducing dmg would be dope. Rest can stay as is imo. Still playing Asol, just a lot less than I used to.

The Stabby Tabby10/24/2019, 10:50:04 PM1 votes

I'll be livid if they revert him, I'm actually enjoying the character for once

FlameHalbrdOkido10/24/2019, 11:12:03 PM1 votes

If they want to update (lets say update ok this stuff isn't rework lvl) it should more him more into the Class he's supposed to be: Battle Mage, and that means he needs some defenses

Passive - Voice of Light: EFFECT RADIUS: 650 CD: 30-12 (affected by CDR) INNATE: Aurelion Sol is a star dragon and doesn’t care about Runeterran puny weapons permanently gaining 5% damage reduction. Sol periodically generates a shield for x-x(+ x% mana)(based on lv) health and 5% bonus damage reduction lingering 1.25 seconds after the shield is broken. After 1 second Aurelion Sol deals (75% shield health) damage and Nearsights enemy units in the direction he’s facing. Damage from minions does not interact with Voice of Light.

Q - no change

W - Stardust Passive - Center of the Universe: no change Toggle on - Particle acceleration: Aurelion Sol opens his maw to spew out star particles in a thin line that curves creating a ring at the target radius dealing DoT to anything at the rings target radius Toggle off - Deceleration: Aurelion waves his hands turning the ring into 3 orbs and draws them back into himself before returning them to slowing units they hit. Aurelion Sol gains damage reduction for each unit hit.

E - no change

R - no change

DingDongDanger10/25/2019, 1:55:25 AM1 votes

I must be an oddball because he feels the same to me except his stars are easier to manage. I actually like the mini rework. His W is just easier for me to use now honestly.

Semaj3xt4h10/25/2019, 3:59:16 AM1 votes

Yyeahhh revert asol, while you're at it could you revert sion/kayle/aatrox/xin zhao/swain/eve/ give me back old ezreal model new one is trash especially pulsefire/taric/urgot
I do miss old poppy but we'll leave her off the list

Yeah that about does it, I miss playing ALL of those old kits (aram main with all champs so yeah played all of them fairly often) their new kits mostly don't feel the same and they might has well just released a new champion and dumpstered the other ones...

I feel your pain ASOL mains, maybe they'll listen... I've come to the conclusion that riot reworks champions in an effort to accomplish "creation out of destruction" Meaning that after awhile people have made their mind up they either love/hate/indifferent about a champion therefore less people buy skins for the champion... If they destroy that champion and out of the ashes something new, a new set of players will enjoy that play-style therefore buy skins etc etc etc... R.I.P. R.I.P. R.I.P. R.I.P. R.I.P. :(

ChaddyFantome10/25/2019, 5:50:36 PM1 votes

They watered him down to make him more appealing to casuals instead of letting him be great in the hands of the players that liked him. Why? That said, i dont think the rework is irredeemable. its..okay, but it just kinda bothers me on principle.

UlyssesISR10/26/2019, 6:03:39 AM1 votes

In concept/character design, he is a very cool. Game-play wise, he is heaping pile of shit and is not worth learning.

Panthaero10/27/2019, 1:03:49 AM1 votes

Ill chime in with my positives first. The added ms when stars are retracted really helps considering how many champs are unbearably hypermobile. Not only can qiyana do three dashes within 7 seconds, you have to try to miss her cc. Feels nice assuming you wanted to disengage.

On to the negatives! We can start at the beginning: early game. It feels awful. Even with Electrocute and scorch your early burst just isnt meaningful. On top of that you cant wave clear as well as before either. These combine into a weak early game. Early skirmishes highlight this as your full combo will at best peel away 1/3 of anyones health bar while you stand around awkwardly offering your teammates moral support as a consolation for how useless you will be during those 8 unbearable seconds.

I can only hope you see how this would feel cumbersome on a champ whos identity revolves around (heh, space pun) roaming. Speaking of which, I am so glad that roams are more strict. Sarcasm aside, the cooldown on comet of legend can inflate to 5 minutes like flash has for all I care. The best part of putting a point in E was the passive ms boost. Yes, it helped your macro but it opened up Asol to glide into a favorable position and was handy growing some distance similarly to the new W ms. The separate parts of the kit really fit together more so than they do now.

I never took issue with late game. Considering you had aoe dps it wasnt uncommon to top the post game damage chart. I felt the damage was sufficient and having a perma slow death circle was more than enough to compensate otherwise. I would much rather have a more impactful early game to directly dictate the flow of the game. If I wanted to farm for 15+ minutes I could just play vlad or kass. Or even pre-rework Asol!

I dont feel as though I need to touch on the rest of his kit so I wont, but let me be clear. My first main was sol who I picked up 4 years ago. I am unabashedly in favor of having his w be a toggle. Whether it does reduced damage to minions or it keeps that bursty buzzsaw speed before slowing down considerably as if to say "hey we wont force you to play a certain way but we will punish you for it" is of consequence to me. As long as I am in control of my stars the rest is unimportant.

Honestly Im just impressed not a day goes by without teemo being called the devil, yet rito banditos unironically claim they want to preserve him for the teemo mains. Meanwhile no one even bats an eye at asol and his core mechanics are stripped away. Its funny, really.

Cyberpete10/31/2019, 4:11:02 PM1 votes

Please for the love of God give him a revert... This was one of my favorite, niche, unique champs. He wasn't good into every matchup, but that's the point. His new rework is OK, but it isn't a great improvement and it made his gameplay way less FUN (which is the point of playing a GAME). I really tried to give him a fair chance post-rework, but I quickly realized that I hate the changes haven't played him since. Really sad to take him out of my champ pool.

RealDsy11/16/2019, 7:35:49 PM1 votes

I played him first time and even I can understand why you want revert. I think that describes the situation. W made only sense when it was toggle-able.

lolenforcer10/24/2019, 2:42:52 AM1 votes

They maded him a jungler, that is all.
