Does anybody else feel like Katarina's ultimate is out of place?

I really love the new dagger mechanics, they are amazing and pretty unique, but it's kinda weird to have a channeling ultimate when the whole kit of the champion is mobility based. Do you think the following ultimate would be better suited for her? :

Katarina channels for 0.75 (or 1 sec) seconds (similar to the edge of night channel - she can move, but damage will cancel the ult and put it on a short 5 sec CD) and throws 3 knives to the 3 closest enemy champions (or to one champion if there is no other enemy champion nearby). After x seconds a dagger spawns behind every hit enemy champion. An enemy hit by more than 1 knife takes reduced damage from every other knife.

That way she will have to rely on shunpoing to the daggers more, and have less damage on ultimate, but she will remain mobile. I am not sure how the numbers should change in order for her to be balanced, but I think the new ultimate itself will be better suited for her new kit. Cheers

So you want to alienate the Kat players who have played her for up to 6 years by replacing her ultimate thats been there since the game started. Lol

So has Talon's cutthroat, they changed it if I recall correctly

Literally all it did was dash, and they put the dash on his Q. Then they gave him parkour. Hardly the same.

It was actually a teleport behind them with a silence. Now it's a dash with damage. Hardly the same. In my opinion katarina's signature is her shunpo and her daggers, not her ult. You might think different, that's why we're having a discussion

Resets and spin to win aoe. How you'd argue Shunpo is her signature is beyond me.

How about no. Her ulti is meant to be her one weak point, the one time the enemy can counter her as to do damage she has to stand still. Giving her even more mobility on her ulti would just be bullshit.

She's always had a channeling ultimate, so I think it fits in just right :).

From what you're saying, the ultimate you're requesting seems to be a little underpowered though. That ulti seems more mobility based and would likely suffocate her damage tremendously, as her ult is still a big part of her kit.

That's what I feared, too. Maybe if the thrown knives dealt more damage? I just think that a channeling stand in place ult has no place in her current kit (I would argue that it has no place in an assassin's kit at all).

That COULD work, I guess.

Yeah, I can agree with you on that one, but if you look at it from riots perspective, a champion that has so much mobility already and just keeps going and going non stop would be a bit much, no? So a standing still ultimate incorporates some counterplay in there, so that there's not too much going on on one's screen. Ya know? I mean, seeing a Kat flying everywhere and dealing massive damage is practically what she had pre-rework haha

Her mobility is in large part there so that you can get into a good position to channel your ultimate. The dagger mechanic also emphasizes you thinking ahead of time and setting up daggers where the fight is going to be so that you can pull off that big combo.

She's been made more strategic than before while also having a higher skill cap, but she's always relied on her mobility and timing to set up that ult.

Champions have to have different parts of their kit do different things. Riven is a 'highly mobile champion' (all her dashes combined are less than the distance of one kat shunpo which resets like 3 times on one rotation, but go with me for a sec) but her w and ult have nothing to do with dashing, she already has enough dashing in the rest of her kit.
