Lee Sin W

As a Lee Sin main I find it extremely annoying when I am caught in an ability such as a root and am unable to use my W as a shield for myself instead of hopping to an ally, creep, etc... I don't understand why it is like this but I believe Lee should be able to use his W to shield himself. But that's my opinion :/

For some dumb reason, it's actually considered a self-dash.

I don't even think you can use it while grounded.

Yep, which I don't understand why.

Probably because it's coded as a movement ability and the shield is applied after he dashes?

Whatever it is it shouldn't be a thing

It works identically for other champions, so no, this very much needs to be a thing, and Lee Sin should not be allowed to yet again be an exception to the balancing levers and game mechanics everyone else has to abide by.

If Urgot cannot E to get his shield (let alone CC, buffer CC, target for Purge, etc), Darius cannot dash for his ult even if they're in melee range, Riven cannot E to get her shield, Kai'sa cannot get her ult shield, etc etc etc then Lee Sin sure as fuck shouldn't be able to W and get his shield under the same exact circumstances.

The thing is it can be used as a shield or a dash which are two separate mechanics. If you shield yourself then you don't get the dash and it is just a normal shield. I get your point but I believe that since you can shield yourself (which doesn't result in a dash) you should be able to shield yourself in abilities such as a root.

You can, use alt+w to self cast it

Edit: Ohh I see, yeah you should be able to self cast it in cc, I agree, which you can't do currently because the first part is silenced as a mobility ability in a root/ground

Exactly, that is the part that frustrates me because I believe it is considered a movement ability so it doesn't allow it.
