Heimer "solo" baron outside the pit

In a recent match, I encountered something most peculiar. Heimer was able to solo baron nashor from outside the pit using only his turrets. His build was a simple combination of Deathcap and multiple rod of ages . While I do believe champions should be able to solo baron, I do not believe it should be so easy and free of damage that it resembles killing scuttle bug.
