Can someone please teach me how to play Eveylnn or Shyvana?

I use to play Shyvana and Eveylnn season 4 but now i don't understand how to play Eveylnn or Shyvana no matter how i build her. Nothing has been changed for Shyvana but since so many other top laners are being changed i feel she can't trade easily or do enough damage early. the only times where i have been successful as playing Shyvana is in the jungle hoping i don't get counter jungled really early and hope the jungle monsters don't kill me. I'm probably just bad but I'm still trying my best to play her because I personally find Dragons to be really cool. I miss Evelynn she cannot survive in the jungle or in lane. Now that the pink ward have infinite extension time eveylnn can't even really gank even with the fact she has no hard cc. Riot can you please do something about it?

Nothing changed for shyv?

She got so many nerfs and bugfixes that removed hidden power. Not to mention that just about every item she built was also nerfed but yea she is definitely still strong and playable...

She can actually build quite a variety of items and seems to having better jungle success lately after the w buff to monsters

i guess im just really bad then. i don't see her a lot not after that championship shyvana release. i guess she's just not a popular pick. or just only jungle with her

I've been a shyv main since way before her popularity spike which lead to so many nerfs so im a bit touchy about her current state

The championship skin was another great skin for her so at least there is that lol.

Part of the reason she got nerfed was because of high base damage and tank stats so she could hit hard while building full defense or just one offensive item. She can still do this to some extent so it tends to be safe going for a defensive item before an offensive one. She really struggles with any sort of cc but in sustained skirmishes is still really strong.

With sivir becoming meta again we may see her and olaf experience a popularity spike as her ult was a godsend for both of them

She's not a popular pick, but that doesn't mean she's a bad pick either.

She lacks sustain, but she makes up for it in being able to clear camps way faster than other junglers. Once her W is rank 2, she's pretty much auto-clearing camps with Burnout while focusing the big monster. That combined with her innate defense makes her lack of sustain a moot point pretty early in the game.

She doesn't have strong ganking CC, but it's not much of a problem with the Smite changes and Red buff. Her damage output is pretty insane because of her lack of CC, and she has mobility instead to keep in range of her targets.

She's also a strong initiator. Since her innate damage is pretty high, you can focus on defensive items to survive initiating the fight, and still deal solid damage during the fight.

People don't often run top lane with Shyvana because she lacks any real harass. She can either go all in, or she can focus on minions. Because of her W, she often pushes lanes really well, which can lead to being overextended and thus jungle ganks. It can be done, but it's less interesting and more risky than other options.

Naut has really good clear time and he's tanky what does that make up for? what about udyr? most junglers i feel is tanky or have some type of substain shyvana has neither of these cases

There's a difference between having good clear time and being one of the two fastest junglers in the game. Shyvana's only rival in clear speed is Dr. Mundo; everyone else is going to be slower than her, whether by a slight degree or a noticeable gap. She's actually very easy to use for counter-jungling. Steal the enemy Raptor camp every once in a while, or their buffs if you have a chance. She's mobile and clears camps rapidly after a few levels and your upgraded machete. Even if you don't pick the AoE/Poach smite, counter-jungling is one of Shyvana's strengths.

And her DPS is really not that far from Udyr's, actually. A well-managed Udyr will out-DPS her to some degree, but Shyvana's capable of nearly as much damage output, and her dragon form lets her do so in a larger AoE.

yes but my point is people would rather play udyr rather then shyvana. you can counter jung with udyr and probly kill the enemy jungler better since he has bear stance. and shyvana's limited on her speed early anyway because i can't use her burn out early because i need it for clear. i want to play shyvana and not actually play a good jungler udyr. im not going to use ult for jungle monsters besides baron and dragon maybe. sure mabye mid game but everyone can counter jungle then but im just too busy trying to live in my jungle i have no time and health to counter jungle. unless if im doing something wrong. i been watching lots of guides on season 5 and reading tips.

The point of Shyvana's ultimate isn't in the jungle, but in team fights. Unlike Udyr, Shyvana can dive into the middle of a team and either draw all of their focus or start dealing near-Udyr levels of DPS to everyone. A well-placed Shyvana either kills everything, absorbs all the CC and damage, or forces the enemy team to scatter.

Anyway, I'm nowhere near the best jungler player, and I don't follow guides or any pro players. I'm just a fan of Shyvana who learns by doing. Specifically, by practicing jungle to better understand the role. I'm not a good judge of who's a better jungler overall, I just learn what strengths a specific jungler has, and how those strengths compare to others.

You're right that Udyr has stronger ganks and can counter-jungle very well, as in actually fighting the enemy jungler.

I'm one of the only Shyvana players who doesn't think her strengths are uncompetitive. The way a lot of people talk about her, I will not be surprised if Shyvana gets buffs in the near future.

I had the same basic perspective when Wukong was new; everyone else said he wasn't strong, I just wanted his Decoy bugs fixed, Riot went and buffed him in addition to that, so in the end, I had a champion I already enjoyed that got significantly stronger (from my perspective).

Try Shyvana play her for yourself. check it out. the best way to actually understand is playing her yourself.

...That's exactly what I said I do. I play her, I check out how she works for myself. From my perspective, I don't see anything specifically wrong with her kit, except for her ultimate being interrupted too easily. Even that doesn't really bother me.
