Another Summoner's Rift Game Mode Idea (filter mains from new champ )
There's a problem in summoners rift I've been running into over and over for the past few months now. There is an element of match making of course that tries to balance the two teams against each other through mmr and probably other things as well, but I often see someone who's a good player but they're playing a champion they don't know well and they're up against a player in lane that is playing their main champion they have over 100k points on. The player new to the champion gets flamed hard core and tons of toxicity breaks out, other players that main the champion that player is trying to learn tell them how to play and what to do, or to go play more bot games, name-calling them, etc. The enemy team hammers on that player how good they are at their main. This is probably where 40% of toxicity comes from in most of my games in norms draft and even more so in blind though I rarely play blind because I find the balancing to be outrageously horrid there due to mirror matches and freelo. (Yes, you can mute everyone and even mute pings, but it's not just the chat and the pings and it's not just aggravating for you, it's aggravating for a lot of people in the game as well).
I have 346 Mastery Score atm and recently, after being a main on
with over 130k points, I've decided to invest time in learning
, and playing in norms feels like, and I quote when I posted this on my discord channel after a few depressing games:
"playing a new mage in norms is like trying to learn how to walk all over again as a toddler while everyone around you is playing airsoft.."
Yes there is bots, but when you're trying to learn a high skill cap, hard and complex champion (and for different people it will feel different), a few bot games won't teach you jack shit enough to prepare you to play on the rift against your normal level with someone you're new to.
My proposition is to add a game mode to Summoner's Rift where everything is the same to draft except players may only pick from champions they have a mastery of lvl4 or less on. This will filter all the mains and players very familiar with champions from the players just trying to play PvP on champions they're learning.
- This would be great for the mains as they can reliably know that in normal draft they are playing with players that are much more likely to know all the important combos and tactics that come to utilizing their champion, this also improving on teamwork and less players bailing on teamfights just because they're insecure in their ability to perform in complex fights on their champion.
- This would be also amazing for players who want to test and learn their new champion on the rift PvP without having everyone around them either flaming them for not playing to their standard or getting demolished because you can't play the champion to your mmr standard to keep up with everyone you're going to be match up against.
note: If this game mode were to come out, I think normal draft should stay allowed for all champions regardless of your mastery, but it would give this pocket queue for players who aren't ready to go up against anyone and want a more relaxed experience on the rift.
Please up-vote this so that Rito notices us, I think I'd be awesome if this became a reality! Also comment your thoughts and constructive criticism and suggestions would be super awesome! [slayer-jinx-wink]
