Help me

I need your help people please, ive started playing in tournaments (1v1's) and ive got my butt kicked by the same guy, the thing is he is abusing champs that are insanely strong in 1v1's such as udyr and nocturne. and im very new to this kind of game mode, if any veterans are out there and is reading this post or someone that knows which champs to watch out for in these game modes please tell me which champs to watch out for or pick my self (apart from udyr and noc which i now know about)!!

when i saw his name pop up i instantly banned udyr, and he hit me up with nocturn instead and i just got demolished as irelia [zombie-nunu-tears]
