Taric the Inaptitude

I bought Taric as a goof with my friends, and realized, he_ Could_ be a valid champion. except for the fact that nothing he has does anything. I get he's a support, so he's not supposed to do much damage, but even as a support, Sona and Kayle for example, they should still be able to solo a lane. I've even seen Braum solo top just fine.

First problem i have with Taric right off the bat, his passive is a weaker version of Rammus'. Rammus' passive converts 25% of his armor to ad. Tarics passive converts 20% of his armor into ad ONLY AFTER CASTING A SPELL, as well as a 2 second cooldown nobody would care about unless he was a burst mage.

Tarics heal is about as crappy as it gets. Lets compare it to Kayle's heal. Tarics heal heals an ally and himself 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+ 30% AP), while Kayle's heals one target, but with 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+ 45% AP) (+ 5% bonus health[not really that much]) and a movement speed buff of 18 / 21 / 24 / 27 / 30% (+ 7% per 100 AP) Taric can also heal himself only, bringing his health up to 84 / 140 / 196 / 252 / 308 (+ 42% AP), but Kayle's heal still trumps this with her movement speed buff.

I honestly have no problems with Tarics W. Good job Riot Games :)

With Dazzle as his main source of ap damage, i feel as though it doesn't do quite enough. I feel as though it needs to be a bit more rewarding for dazzling a nearby champion, as it is a rare use of the spell.

I also feel as though Tarics ult needs to be buffed in the base damage. The ap/ad was a really good idea in my opinion though.

I really hope people see this and consider buffing Taric. And remember summoners, these are all my opinions on Taric, some of yours may differ. Thanks for reading what I had to say.

May Taric be with you Taric

(EDIT) I used to think Taric was useless. DEAR GOD was I wrong. His passive grants you so much cooldown reduction, you will just be healing and stunning CONSTANTLY and your able to waste you ult on a goddamn camp, while dealing damage based on your defense.

His Q is Really strong late game, being able to tank towers or heal allies, since its based of your maximum health. So once you get really tanky, you can give you tankyness to your allies, and yourself at the same time.

Again, his w, Already amazing. I never had problems with it.

Dazzle is an insanely great gap closer, and will allow you to take advantage of your passive and good for stopping some ults. (See Katarina and Malzahar)

Tarics ult is godly, especially for the fact it has around 60 second cooldown. It's great for charging into a teamfight, buffing all your allies, and does quite a hefty amount of aoe damage for a tank.

Anyway, Taric is now my favorite champion, thanks to the people who responded, which made me try him agian.

May Taric be with you Taric

Taric's strength is he's good with and against AD-heavy teams. If they're AD melees, you're on easy street. He's also an aura god, bringing both attack and defense to teamfights that, when done right, can cause a massive stat disparity equal to a baron buff. His weakness comes from a general lack of peels and mobility and the fact that his armor shredding and buffs better benefit his allies than they do himself, though this is generally par for the course for supports.

Passive: Actually, his damage bonus is magic damage, but the really valuable component is the 2 second cooldown reduction. With a proper rhythm, Taric can lay down his spells constantly, refreshing all of his skills with such frequency that he's absolutely lethal to brawlers and melee assassins.

Q: Yeah, his heal could be better, but combined with his passive, he can throw down heals remarkably fast. Like, almost Soraka fast.

W: Shatter is one of the best skills in the game, but on a tank support it's almost broken. AOE magic damage and armor shred that scales off his armor is insane. I've carried a team as Taric support when the enemy is mostly AD assassin because, at some point, they can't do anything to Taric, and every second they stand near him is devastating agony, and he can trigger it so fast that armor shred is constantly refreshed. And the damage. DEAR GOD THE DAMAGE.

E: I don't like this skill, but unfortunately it's the closest thing he has to a gap closer, and if the enemy has any sense, they'll keep Taric as far away from them as possible, especially as he starts snowballing armor and CDR. It's just a flat stun and negligible damage. It's generally a negligible skill outside of the fact that it stuns.

R: The buff is amazing. It's like having part of a baron buff in the early game, and then a full baron buff in the late game. Two, if your armor shred is high enough.

Arguably, Taric is overpowered at the moment, but I think it's because of the extremely heavy emphasis on the AD assassin meta. He's the ultimate counter to it, and now that tanks have been given a general buff, it's penalized teams for being so specialized. Otherwise, against an AP ranged team (or one with high mobility), Taric falls off super quickly because of his lack of mobility or ranged abilities.

Yeah, you are correct on this, we know that Taric does need help. The interesting thing is, Taric actually was a great champion and a top support choice.
But that was years ago, he hasn't gotten any care since then and is stuck with outdated things, old numbers for his abilities. If we look at the patches, the last time Riot payed significant attention to him was some nerfs, including slashed or removed AP ratio, and these were changes made in the context of the game 2013.

ITT people who have no idea about Tarics current state. Taric is strong. He's one of the strongest supports. Problem is he is super dull to play because he is so mechanically basic, and people don't pick him because they're like "I want to play a fun game of League and play Taric", he's instead picked if the player wants to win. So think Janna, but tankier and a melee. He doesn't need buffs, he needs his rework.

i solo top with taric and i find it works very well, i agree he needs a much needed rework or somehting his ult is kinda useless though i must admit

He got nerfed heavy during pre-season. Still a good pick into certain comps.

Well, as you've explained, you are a taric noob. The Flat CDR on his passive makes him scale incredibly hard late game because with 40% CDR and a large mana pool, his spells are never on cooldown if you cycle them appropriately (kind of like Riven actually). He actually is a very weak support and is much better as a solo laner if you build him as a AD/Armor tank (think Trinity force into FH+Thornmail+Randuin's+Spirit Visage+Boots). He is niche pick, but certainly not weak unless you mess up and pick him into a bad matchup.

I think it's a good thing that he's halfway done with his visual update and rework.

As a Taric main, it can't come any sooner. I just hope they don't remove his stun and Armor Aura, otherwise I believe he will lose his identity and uniqueness... Kinda like when they removed the ability to give mana with Soraka.
