Alternative to Current Chest System

Before I start, a disclaimer. I've been playing league for about a year, and have had friends playing for several years. I'm decent at a few champs and in Silver 1. This is also a wall of text, I apologize, there's a TL:DR at the bottom

I've always felt the chest system felt kinda awkward. Currently it rewards you if you or your premade gets an S- or higher at a rate of 1 chest per week. Additionally there's a restriction of 1 chest per champion per season, and key fragment drops are semi random (based on honor.... I think?).

Questions for thought: If its meant to be about being exceptionally good at a champion, why can premade team-mates get it for you? If it's meant to have you experience the champion, why can it potentially be gotten in 1-2 games (with a premade)? Why does the 1 chest per week system exist? It seems to be an arbitrary limit on the amount of chests you can get Why are key drops random? It seems to solely limit opening chests even more What EXACTLY gives an S rank. Obviously kills, and assists, and cs. But there are very few hard numbers to use How are the requirements for an S different from snowballing/stomping a game?

My suggestion is that we get chests from champions each season after earning a fixed number of mastery points on each champ. I'm not 100% sure what to do with the ideas of keys, but they may be able to be thrown out, or tied to winning a fixed amount of games. For the purposes of this thread, I'll use a ballpark number of 20,000 mastery points for a chest. The weekly chest system would be discarded. If keys existed, a ballpark number of 10 wins would get you a fragment.

A 100% win rate (1000 points per game), amounts to 20 games on a champ A 100% lose rate (100 points per game), amounts to 200 games A 50% win rate (1100 points per 2 games), amounts to 37 games

To get all 150 chests in a season (assuming 50% winrate), it would take around 5454 games. But it is not necessarily intended for everyone to get all the chests. I can probably be convinced otherwise, but I need to hear a good argument for it.

This would solve a few of the issues tied to chests.

Firstly, it would make S ranks not be required for chests. only for mastery levels. I never saw why they were needed in the first place, especially for chests. They are different for each champ, and the requirements are not explicitly laid out. The goal of the game is play the game, and to blow up the big red crystal thing at the other end of the map. I believe you should be rewarded for doing this, not some hidden KDA/CS/?? stat. It feels like S ranks come not always because of how well someone played, but how hard one team stomped the other.

Second, you wouldn't be able to get carried by your teammate and get a 'free' chest. Sure, if your teammate carries you, you'd get a free win, but that's only 1 of 20 of one champ.

Third, you'd be able to see your progression to your chest, and how each bit of progress stacks up. because who doesn't like seeing progress bars fill up?

Fourth, it would encourage people to try new champs... and play them until they get your chest for the season. You can't possibly learn a champ in one game, especially if you're getting carried.

Fifth, assuming people create bot accounts to game the system, I don't really have an answer for this one besides reports need to catch these people more quickly. especially botting reports when made against an account repeatedly and frequently

If the key frag drop got reworked into the fixed amount of wins, it would encourage people to win, and do what they need to to win. It rewards people who do play a few champs really well to play their champs really well to get the wins needed to open a chest. I get that being honorable is all fine and all, but it seems like a really weird system to get keys from, especially it's another stat we can't see.

**TL:DR ** I propose we get chests when we get mastery on champs, and keys when we win games. Remove the randomness and hidden stats please

Feel free to voice your opinions. Also, let me know if this is the wrong board to post this to, so that I can move it to the appropriate board
