Ways to climb out of bronze?

WolfLegendBlade··2 votes·1,366 views

Right now I'm in a stump not really winning any ranked and getting really salty because i win a 2 games or something like that and after that i just go to 0 LP and i feel like i'm going to be stuck in bronze forever or something. any advice or any champs that can help me climb and that are easy. I understand it only matters if your good at the champ and you enjoy them. I main talon currently and honestly i really cant do anything. He's my best champion. I don't know what my problem is I was decent in S5 but then i just starting losing a lot in ranked. Any tips, advice, Champion suggestions would be well appreciated. Btw here is my crappy lolking I was bronze 3 now i'm just stuck in bronze 5 [zombie-nunu-bummed] http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/64649375

  • Don't play when salty, that never goes well. Tilt is an awful thing to play around, but really, don't play ranked when you're upset, go have some fun in ARAM, or give Dominoes its last farewell. just have fun, play some norms practice, and get back into a winning groove where you feel confident, not cocky, and are in a good mood.

  • Remember this is a team game, and you don't know what will set a person off, sure are there times when its unavoidable and they're going to troll anyways... yeah. but if you're nice and compliment people and are impressed by how well they've mastered what you just watched. they feel better, and are inclined to help you more. Think of it as a trust building exorcise. You're not going to want to be around a person who is constantly insulting you, and making you feel bad, you don't even want to help them generally. But if you can encourage them and they're nice to you. Everyone has everything to gain.

  • Practice in norms. get mechanics down, cs over kills (don't tunnel and chase when your back line is getting Shrek'd), position in team fights/position outside of team fights, when to poke when farming, should I roam/follow or push lane (depends on who you're playing and where you stand in the current game, and if you can actually make a difference), practice, practice, practice. (ask anyone in higher elos, and even professionals and what not. You're always going to need to practice. This goes for anything you want to master/be good at), learn what calls to make and when to make them. Little things like this, can actually add up, and if you can get some of these down, you can start to get teammates to follow in with what would be the best decision at that point in time.

  • Some champs are currently stronger than others yeah, but nothing will ever beat out a person who knows exactly what they're doing with whom they're playing. So don't rush into a ranked queue hoping to go first time Heimer JG.

  • Don't just know what you're champ does. Know what the enemies champ does. I could be a first time J4 top into a Riven. and I know her shield dash cs, I know her Q combo with AA when she is on top of you, and from a distance, I know her stun time and CD, how much ad she has currently, her cs, how close she is to leveling (more game situation), but know what she does, and her standard positioning, and try to learn the players pattern with her in few small side skirmish if you feel you can come out on top. if you do make the mistake of not playing someone you're used to, try to play around what you do know about their champion. Counters are a nice thing yeah, but individual skill and knowledge trumps all.

  • ping everything. your lane backs, ping mia, your lane wards, ping caution, enemy JG near your lane, ping danger, and if they're going into their JG/another person's lane its okay to spam them with pings.

  • vision is important always. ward your lane like a Christmas tree if when you can, ward the enemy JG, ward your JG, Just place wards and try to know where the enemy might be at. Try to politely encourage your team to upgrade trinkets, at least in bronze few people actually make notice of how important vision is. Personally I like to try and encourage a 2 sweeper, 2 far sights, and 1 yellow. Try to get your team to have at least 3-4 pinks out, if not everyone. the control of vision and whats going on really does help set up your teams overall positioning.

  • Remember it's a game, and try to have fun with it. if you're behind and getting stomped, ask for help, if you don't get any, it's okay to roam if you're able. a double kill bot can go a long, long, long way towards that V.

  • a lot of this game is just small simple stuff, but it goes a long way, and I know it can seem tedious, but it works in the long run. I know there is a lot i missed and didn't really dive into good detail about, but I'm sure you can forgive me since it is 8 A.M. *[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*I know this is a dry read, but its a bit of helpful information that isn't too overbearing I feel. just simple stuff keep adding onto what you know, and have fun with it.

no no no, as i pretty much get supp most of the time from picking fill, i have this issue with people wanting me to be leo and the adc just doesnt follow up ever or they have luc and they dont take thunderlords(sorry if i want to give you kills early game). but a lot of the problem is that peopel are more interested in going all the way up top or backing to defend a tiear 2 turret from a enemy rather then push to get a inhib turret and inhib. i try to explain that the guy will back, best defense good offense sort of thing.

That is very sound advice in my opinion I perform along most of these guidelines most of the time n I see my win ratio improve much more than last season although still stuck in bronze ;P I think tilting is the biggest problem o got when I loose a game I get stubborn n then want to keep going till I win one... not a good idea n been getting outa that habit
I go aram for a few games then try ranked after my RAGE has been reduced. Tilting in opinion is my greatest enemy I belive my top n bot gameplay is suffecient enough to get outa bronze but that tiltING is a big problem. That's my own experience anyway GL buddy.

Ah its the same with me we lose then i get tilted and go for another one and i think i can win but then i just mess up and really fail. Then blame rito then say i quit then come back and tilt again

Shit, maybe they're already here; I'm stuck in a veritable hell of talon mid, and feeding allies... if it's not Zed or fizz, it's Talon, much to my dismay.

Nah, people should just stop playing talon. Please.

Well, first off, check your builds along the builds suggested in popular guides. Are they the same? If not, are you sure of your builds, and that you are really adapting to the current situation? If in doubt, try to build what the guide suggest and experiment from there.

Then, are you using your spell rotations properly? Are you combo-ing in the right order? Watch a few videos, maybe find a streamer that mains your champ and look what they do.

Also, don't be greedy. Understand that pushing an opponent out of lane, or forcing him to use a summoner spell, is already a victory. Quit while you are ahead, don't over-commit, learn how to trade, your damage output, when you can dominate your laner and when you should be on the defensive. And don't make stupid dives. Better yet, don't make dives at all, unless you are 300% sure it's safe (did you think about their Barrier? did you see that their jungler is about to gank you?). Farm is good, dying is bad. And kills don't win game, objectives do. And remember to ward.

If you apply all that properly and if you train enough, you should at least win your lane. Then, how do you win the game? Watch your mini-map. Really, it's step 1. And to not look at simply a dark map, ward properly, use your trinket. Dammit, it's free. In mid game, try to roam and help your team-mates, and if you can't roam, remember to ping the miss. A lot, multiple times, to be sure that your mates are aware, don't only play well yourself, help them play well too. In late game, understand how and when make a lane push, focus on objectives. If the enemy team split to depush a lane that you made push earlier, engage and force a fight with a number advantage, or take a tower while they cannot contest. Also, if you play an Assassin/Diver/Burst champ, you can go near one of your big minion wave, but don't help it push, just hide in a bush near it. Then, when THEIR carry comes to depush, ambush them and kill them. It should give your team an easy fight or the opportunity to take a tower.

But honestly, I was Silver 4-3 in season5. Got placed in Bronze 3 in season6, and it took me barely one week to get back to Silver 5. Despite never going above Silver 3 (i.e. not high ELO at all), I can reliably carry until Bronze 1. Silver 5 is a bit harder, but I still win relatively easily. The game only feel challenging in Silver 4 and above.

Oh, and I forgot an important point: understand what is your role in your team. If you are an Assassin, it is NOT your job to initiate the team fight. If you are Lux support, sure being 5-0-8 is cool, but if you don't ward and if you don't protect your ADC, your team is still gonna lose, and it IS your fault, even if you are 5-0-8. Learn what your team needs you to do, and focus on that, not on getting kills. Once again, kills don't win game, objectives do.

  • Dont play when tilted. Bad idea. If you're even the slightest bit tilted, don't play. Take a break.
  • Main 2 roles and pick 2 champions per that are not often banned. Main 1 champ per role and 1 for backup in case it gets picked. Make sure that they're viable, but not FOTM. My mains are Top and Jungle with Irelia/Kayle for my top picks (I get Irelia literally 99% of the time) and Elise/Nidalee for my jungle picks (and I get Elise like 90% of the time). They're not commonly banned, espec in bronze, and I'm VERY good at the 2 mains, and pretty good at the secondaries.
  • This is a team game, remember that. If you're top, save TP every once in a while to TP into a fight that you otherwise wouldn't have been in. You might lose a tower to the enemy top laner, but you went 1 for 4 that fight cuz of it, and push 2 mid turrets. 100% worth.
  • Pick champions that have CC. I cannot stress this enough, CC wins games!!!
  • If someone at the early stages of tilt, try to untilt them. Console them, make sure they feel valid, and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tell your team good job (including your support). It's a huge morale booster and I guarantee you, the positivity can override the negativity and if the enemy doesn't have that positive sunshiny person and you do, you will likely win.
  • Play champs you have fun playing, but make sure they're not too mechanically difficult. I was high silver last season, which is why I'm okay going with Nidalee, but the other's aren't that difficult. (Elise arguably being the hardest, and even then...)
  • I played Urgot top last season towards the very end, went from Silver 5 to Silver 2 on a diff account. META means nothing in Silver/Bronze.

There is none. You either have the skill or don't. You either can understand how to climb and improve or your don't. The majority of silver and bronze players will never climb because they lack the skill and don't have the potential to do so.

I main support only. I try my best and look at vids but I just don't have it so I'll be bronze forever.

I'm also stuck in Bronze so I can feel your pain. Maybe group up with some people that way your chances for afk's and trolls are smaller. Like I said I'm still stuck in Bronze but what helped me climb at least a little up was picking a support and carry the support and the team. Not my favorite role but whatever helps to get out of there

Just push non-stop, it's pretty easy to get to their inhib tower ~20 minutes in. Getting objectives is what wins you games.

Buy a pink when you have the cash and you don't have one alive. Buy trackers knife as a jungler. Rush swifties on junglers (non devourer). Watch a pro play your main champ. Oh yea, main a champ. Your main should be somewhat in the meta, they don't have to be S tier but at least B tier. DO NOT blame your teammates. You're stuck in bronze because of yourself. If people are able to climb out of bronze then you can too. Don't play a champ in ranked that you just bought or learned. In bronze I would recommend having mastery 5 on any champ that you want to play in ranked. If you play a champ that you have practiced then you're at an advantage.

I went and used lolking to look at your matches and I noticed one HUGE thing you could do:

Play more games. You're not gonna climb out of bronze on 30ish games. Climbing takes time. Remember that you also have to improve as a player to climb. Part of that is just putting in the reps. Getting a feel for all the champions you will play against and how your champ interacts with them, getting in the habit of warding and looking at the map, last hitting, and basically any of the great tips you can see in the thread come with practice When you lose, figure out what you could have done better. It could be something as simple as getting more last hits or no dying to ganks. In your next game concentrate on doing better next game.

Most of all just don't get discouraged. Losses happen, just focus on improving your own play.

Change your mentality. Think about it this way: you don't have to do anything special. You just have to show up and not be terrible. Let your opponents do the work for you. They're bronze V's, right? That means they're going to do tons of stupid shit. Play a champ that scales well, that doesn't require a lot of skill, and that can punish mistakes. Like...Annie. Just wait for them to do something stupid and then kill them. Rinse and repeat.

Do that correctly and you'll win lane almost every game. Win lane almost every game, and you'll win a majority of games. Not all. Not even a vast majority. But enough that you WILL climb.

Hint: if you're doing it right, you'll almost never die.

My advice: follow the flavor of the month, or a seasoned veteran that's infamous for being good, and is still used all the time. I found a champ I'm good with, but is sorely outclassed in this meta and gets wrecked by AD assassins which are popular because they're so flashy and are played often in the LCS. Don't pick someone complicated like Zed or Yasuo; go with champions like Annie that are just so standard because they're simple, and they work.

Personally, I find it especially hard to climb when supporting with a poke support; your mileage may vary with engage supports like Leona or Blitz, but with, say, Lulu or Janna, you will probably have issues. Support in general is kind of hard to carry with; you have to be extremely good, and have a lot of faith in your carry. If they don't follow up, your as much as screwed; I'd leave this role if you could, but others will say it's a sure-fire way to climb. I dunno.

As Tsoul mentioned, don't play if you're angry. From experience, I'd say leave it after one loss, but, again your results may vary. I was able to lie to myself and say I wasn't tilting last season, and it got me dropped into bronze 5. Trust me, you don't want to be there because your team is a crapshoot every time. You will go on tilt so often because some of your team mates will be so horrible there is no working with them. People that just straight up shouldn't be playing this game show up here. There are so many, I'm still stuck there after being almost silver, and going on tilt.

Don't get TOO experimental with your builds, but remember that there is something you can do to push objectives on most champions. If you have a lot of AP, consider a sheen item to take towers if your team just can't. Lich bane with 600-800 AP deals some pretty reasonable damage to towers, to justify dropping the gold on it. If you have a lot of HP, maybe consider titanic hydra. If you're adc and you're having trouble taking objectives... focus objectives, man, what are you doing? Most adc's are really good at taking towers because they usually build high attack speed and high attack damage. If you're support and don't have much of any of those things... well you're a little screwed, but just do your best.

Also, jungling is a bad idea unless you have a real talent for it; you will get flamed the most out of any role and you will be expected to do way too much, and there's too much pressure... unless you can do it well.

Another thing about champion selection: Don't pick something you don't really like just because it's "OP". Kat is "OP" but I'm bad with melee-range champions in general with a few exceptions. I just can't play Kat that well, and don't do well with them, so I don't play her.

Oh, and don't play Veigar. I'm good with Veigar, but he just gets fucked by a lot of mids, so either you'll get bulled out of lane or killed a lot as Veigar, I'll tell you from personal experience. All of the champions that you have a great advantage against are mostly out of meta picks now that people want to make the plays with AD assassins like people in the LCS... so, you know.

Tsoul also did a great job mentioning that you should know what most champions can do so you're not taken by surprise when you realize that, say, Talon gets borderline unfair damage buffs on slowed targets because of his passive and he has a Shunpo-style blink...

I'm totally not salty about anything. Nope.

But seriously, fuck Talon.
