Proposed Changes to Leblanc

Leblanc has been my favorite champion for most of my time playing League of Legends, but since her silence was removed, she feels pretty lackluster. I recognize that having a champion with a silence that is easy to apply results in little to no counter-play, but she is definitely lacking a lot of her power without the silence. If a Leblanc does not get ahead early in the game, they are most likely screwed for the rest of the game, and will serve the main purpose of confusing the enemies. Leblanc snowballs hard for the first 20 minutes of the game if she does get ahead in the first few levels in my opinion, but falls off shortly after. This does not fit with most assassins in the game; most assassins such as fizz, akali, and zed scale well into the late game, and snowball hard with every kill they get. You usually want to give kills early to assassins to get them snowballing early, but as Leblanc, when I roam and get kills, I feel like I should be giving them over to my allied laners instead of taking them, because most champions scale much better into the late game then Leblanc. Leblanc can usually get 1v1 lane kills pretty easily, but does not scale super well with her lead; I usually just zone the enemy from farm if I have completely dominated them. I usually only pick her when I feel that I need to keep the enemy midlaner gold deprived. I can go 20/3/5, but then fail to contribute to my team much, and lose the game because of that. The way I see it here are Leblanc's current pros and cons: Pros: high single target burst, high mobility, and she is confusing to play against (as long as you play her correctly. Cons: weak scaling (not in terms of numbers, but in terms of how she has to be played), her burst requires her to put her body in high danger to being crowd controlled momentarily, cannot do much other than picks late game, and struggles to splitpush (it works, but isn't very good) or teamfight late game. I thinks that everyone agrees that Leblanc doesn't need more damage, mobility, or greatly reduced cooldowns on her spells, however most people I have talked to see her as super weak, and in need of buffs.

Here are my ideas on how to help Leblanc become relevant again (the numbers/ideas as a whole aren't perfect, but they are what I think of as reasonable from a logical standpoint):

  1. Add greater utility to her ult, make it even more an important part of her kit, and have the choice of what spell to use be more dynamic in choice (think about the goal of having more viable options to evolving kha'zix's spells). At this point mimicking her q is for a basic single target burst combo (qrwe, rqwe, wqre, or weqr), mimicking her w is for aoe damage, or escaping/juking, and mimicking her e is for extra crowd control. The ult is a key part of her kit, but it has always felt like it adds to he damage, instead of helping her kit; creating greater functionality and differences between her regular skills and her ultimate. -Make mimicked sigil of malice be like how it used to be, like sigil of silence, but give it a 1 second silence. Keep the damage it has now (it definitely doesn't need anymore damage), but give it a silence (shorter than it was before) to provide more utility, and a better reason to use it. -Make mimicked distortion have 4.5 seconds to return to initial location, and nerf the regular distortion to 3.5 seconds to return to the initial location. Alternatively, add a small slow to the end of the mimicked distortion. This would give even better classic misdirections. -Make mimicked ethereal chains stun for 1.25 seconds instead of its current root for 1.5 seconds. This would give some long range, hard cc, to make her relevant in team fights without committing suicide.
  2. Instead of option 1, give more power back to her q. -Give her q the silence back, but make it take 3 more spells against the enemy marked to apply the silence. This would prevent an instant silence (like what used to happen) on a qw combo, but now it would take the w and both instances of e damage to proc the mark pre-level 6. After leblanc hits level 6, leblanc would be able to qrw, and then only have to hit the initial e to proc the mark; I like the idea of making ethereal chains be a more core part of her damage/combos. This change would give her back the silence which she needs, but require some skill, and allows for counterplay.
  3. Nerf her damage early game in return for a small silence (I am gonna throw this out, even though it is my least favorite of my ideas). -Reduce the base damages on her skills, add 5 percent scaling to all abilities, and give a .75 second silence to her sigil of malice (which would get its old name back: sigil of silence, and essential functionality). Leblanc's early burst damage is pretty insane, and is way too dangerous with a silence, but if it did less damage, and two qw combos + ignite didn't guarantee a kill, the silence could be of use again. Late game if Leblanc wants to bust a squishy down, a silence won't really matter, because they will die faster than they could react; if Leblanc needed to run/provide some cc against tankier targets for her team this could help prevent the enemy (like a shyvanna ready to ult) from diving (for a brief time).
  4. One last clunky q change idea. -Return sigil of silence to Leblanc, but make a .75 second delay before silencing the target for 1 second. This gives Leblanc her silence back (despite being awkward and clunky), but allows for the counterplay it used to lack.

Please reply with your thoughts about how Leblanc could be a strong pick without being as broken as she used to be. I would love to hear what changes you guys would propose, and what you think of mine. I hope that some rioters read through this, and the comments below that show how the community views the current state of Leblanc, and give her some much needed love (buffs).

TLDR: Many people including me feel that Leblanc is pretty weak right now, and think she needs buffs. I have proposed added functionality/depth to her ultimate, or nerfs to her old q, that I see has strong, but have counterplay.

I own 3 LeBlanc skins and consider her my go-to mid. I don't think anything is wrong with her. The silence had zero counter play unless you could predict her distortion.

The new QoL changes just force you to be quicker with damage. I think shes in a great spot tbh.
