How to Outplay camps

My games usually go one of two ways. I realize my biggest problem but am having problems fixing it. I see plays that can be made, as a mid main, I usually try to pick and snowball the entire game before my team can mess it up. A lot of the time this is the case. However, the times when it isn't i'm usually camped by atleast 1 other laner and a jungler. I ping for help, and usually get dove in these scenarios or just back off losing a giant wave or tower. MY question is, how do I avoid this when i place pinks and all possible wards. I try to back off whenever i see someone is missing, but then ill usually end up not snowballing and losing CS, and therefore laning phase, putting me at a deficit i can't carry from. I main pick champions with high burst for this reason, because recently I cant depend on my team getting late game or winning lane early. i'm on average a gold player, however I have climbed higher and just recently climbed from silver 2-gold 3 using these tactics. As far as i can tell, the games I lose are mostly because i'm making call outs and people just aren't listening because they are hard headed. Any advice?
