An iteration idea for Rageblade

To preface a bit about me, I've played League since a few weeks after Closed Beta ended, I'm a typical gold class scrub, and I've done a little bit of game design on my end. Not saying that makes me the perfect God (because clearly I'm not) but I had a bit of a think about the current Rageblade iteration.

KEEP IN MIND THIS IS ALL ON PAPER, AND ALSO A SUBJECTIVE OPINION

The Pro's of this Rageblade:

  • It's pushed away from being a core 'first pick up' item that immediately spikes anybody who has innate access to an on-hit effect without Nashors/BoTRK. The % scaling incentivizes requiring more gold in order to gain the most benefit from it.
  • It provides a higher spike in PvP combat by adding more power when fighting champions
  • More champions can access it than previously, and it fits well with both melee and ranged.

The Con's of this Rageblade:

  • It loses a lot of it's consistency by the fact that it can only be stacked in one effective use case; champions. There are many more parts of the game than just other players. I feel this path completely removes the accessibility to PvE increase. It provides no benefit on objectives, and I feel like that's a major issue with this current iteration. It becomes one of, if not the only item, that only gains power through fighting other players. Otherwise it is a net loss of gold.
  • On the topic of gold, it provides insane power the further ahead someone is by giving multiplicative AD and AP. The fact that it provides both at once in this form would bust some champions completely, and also some new ones in the mix with the melee aspect added to the passive. First that come to mind are Tryndamere, Kai'Sa, & Kayle. 18% AD and AP at max stacks when in combat with other champions is a seriously cost effective upgrade, but also far too high on paper. It looks like it will be a very snowbally item.

So instead, looking at these pro's and con's, I suggest the following:

COST: 3250g

BUILD: Amp Tome, Pickaxe, Recurve Bow + Gold

  • 10 AP
  • 10 AD
  • 25% Attack Speed

PASSIVE: Adaptive: Gain +40 AP or +40 AD based on the higher of your Bonus AD or AP

UNIQUE PASSIVE: Basic attacks against champions, large & epic monsters grant 8% Attack Speed, and 2% AD/AP, adaptive, stacking up to 6 times, lasting 4 seconds. While at 6 stacks gain Guinsoo's Rage.

Melee champions gain 2 stacks on attack. Attacking minions or monsters will maintain stacks, but not grant increased stacks.

Guinsoo's Rage: Every other basic attack will trigger on hit effects.

Opinions everybody? I'm very open to criticism and I feel like this could potentially be a healthier half-way between the current idea, and what we're seeing on live.

Repertoir is looking to us for feedback, so let's give it :)

Ok sure but why3/8/2018, 2:00:02 AM1 votes

Rageblade rn is THE item you take if you want to have lots of attack speed (ever since they reworked the Hurricane), so I'd never wanna see it lose 48% of that

or as I should now say, 64% of that

a few champions want the ap without having ap already in their build, any ideas?
