Curious about Sona's rework.

Hi Everyone, This is my first post in the forums. It's about my favorite champion, Sona (Obviously). If anyone in Riot is reading this, I don't mean any offense by what I say. I'm curious why Riot is seemingly nerfing Sona so hard. it feels to me like she is just becoming another support instead of the Maven of Strings. I feel that Riot is making her as weak as she has ever been with this new update for her. I don't quite remember everything the page about her update said, but they are removing her persistent auras in exchange for one-to-two second auras and a shield on her W? And making the auras smaller? Wouldn't that mean Sona would have to be much closer to the fight? That's what harms Sona most though, being right in the thick of things. She would get shut down almost instantly, no? Please comment, I'm eager to hear what everyone else thinks.

Here's another thread that had some good discussion, once again hilighting our PLEASURE AND JOY at the changes.

If you ask me they are phasing support out as a class entirely in favor of APCs with support capacity.

Her E was of no help in a team fight, we tried to chase the stragglers. And the aura range was so small, plus the boost wasn't much.

Sona is in a really easy position at the moment. She can poke, and do tons of damage. Zoom around and easly get out of harms way, and just heal safely in the back line. I personally get lich bane and athenes on Sona, and use it when my 3 stacks give bonus damage. If I use it in conjunction with my ult + ap runes + passive + lichbane bonus damage + ignite can usually mean I can instantly burst down the enemy carry.

She also has constant harass where she can poke and do damage constantly, while healing of any kind of trading, and speeding to safety.

Are you serious? She is the squishiest of all support champs next to maybe Zyra. and she has the least poke out of all poke champs. She also does the least amount of sustained damage. By the the time you get to Athene's and Lichbane on top of your GP5 and Sightstone, the opponent AD carry will have banshee's veil. Now that Frost Queen's item is line is nerfed, you'll take even longer to get those 2 items. You wont burst anyone with that.

I have not had a problem with it. So what if your squishy you do damage. I do not go for the frost queens item. only the tier one for the mild mana regen and ap. You won't be able to nuke people out of lane immediately, but you still can do damage. Though i don't know how thing will change with the patch.

They are seemingly nerfing Sona because the amount of power she had was quite high, of course you feel she's as weak as she has ever being, any nerf to a champion will have that effect .. She's still the maven of strings though, her skill floor has risen, yes you are in danger when in close range, but you just need to be there for half a second plus if you're really supporting you won't be much far away from your carry anyway, 350 Units is more than enough to stay safe, what you CAN'T absolutely do is be on the front, so if you want attrition Sona to be a thing, there you have it ..

Persistent Auras were OP and you know it, it was like having a free BF sword, Blasting wand, Negatron Cloak and Chain vest .. not at the same time or course but in a teamfight you generally Q+W as fast as possible meaning you give these items instantly and then leave 2 of them lingering forever, any champion that approaches you would receive them for a grand total of a huge gold difference for free just from having Sona in your team ..

What's funny is that this is still a thing, as long as you're smart about it, your snuggle zones will still be as powerful as your auras just harder to use. Remember when Sona was the head-on-keyboard champ? well, not anymore, you gotta think what skill you'll be using and where and for me, particularly, it feels like a more rich experience as a Support than old Sona.
