Potential Bard Buff

Have his ultimate freeze enemy cooldowns for the duration - friendly units' cooldowns are unaffected (or to buff him even more, have it reduce friendly cooldowns as well by x/x/x seconds).

I would not be upset with this, because you should be benefited/penalized with aiming the ult correctly.

I know what you mean, but how many other champs are "punished" for using their ult wrong? Azir and his team can still pass through his wall, etc. If you mess up a Bard ult even a little bit, it can be disastrous. I feel like freezing enemy CD's would help (maybe reducing allies would be too good), and that it would give his ult more strategic play because a good Bard could wait till the enemy blows their spells before attacking, and would definitely give it a more "offensive bite" as stated above that helps allies that get caught because they're already in position get the aggression started.

You're punished with Azir because if it does no damage, there goes the rest of your damage output and/or kill set up. Yeah, I see what you mean with this. There aren't many risks involved with using an ult wrong, just the outcome of maybe aiming it wrong or the teamfight just didn't go well.

Bard's ult has no scaling except for cooldown, reducing allied cooldowns could give it some.

The ult is the definition of fair, you can't get more balanced than an ult affecting both allies and enemies, it comes down to skill in the end.

Touching the ult would be a mistake in my opinion, it would add more clutter to what is already a fine and clear ability. What Bard needs is more power in the Support and Roaming aspects.

This would definitely alleviate some of the problems that come with ulting your own team. It also gives his ultimate an offensive bite which I think he could benefit from.

to be honest, I've been playing him since a while and I feel like his ultimate is actually an offensive/engage skill in the first place.

DarkFaun Fortes3 votes

it sounds small but it would make him overpowered.

2.5 seconds of frozen CD sounds reasonable to me. After all it is an ultimate ability.

DarkFaun Fortes1 votes

Fair.

Why?

DarkFaun Fortes1 votes

People just dont know how to play with him yet, And still learning when is good and not good to wander when playing as him.

I think hes really strong, it just take cooperation.

Meeks0111 votes

He's crap right now, this one tiny buff would make him overpowered?

DarkFaun Fortes1 votes

THATS WHAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS!!! hes not crap! Hes amazing!!! You just have to ave good communication and timing!!!!

My friend who is Master/challenger practiced bard a few times and took him to ranked playing games around 3/2/32. He doesn't need buffs if played right.

thank you

Just give the guy some dam health! Sona is tankier than this guy wow.

Meeks0111 votes

I see lots of people building him tank, but Sona would make a better tank.

alcatrazEscapee1 votes

But building him damage / ap support... He has one damaging ability. At least being tanky lets him cast that ability and others more often in a fight.

Meeks0111 votes

Yeah... building anything else doesn't do jack shit really.

Nashor's on him though... synergy with meeps.

alcatrazEscapee1 votes

So he doesn't work with damage items: because he has one damaging ability (other than choice items like nashors) He doesn't build tank because of bad base stats. Damage builds also don't work because he has a low budget as a support. He needs to work well with small amounts of money.

What do you build after typical support items? More boots for roaming potential?

Apollocliptic2 votes

So far, I've found that you can build him tank (I build Jannah and Lulu tank and combined with utility they are so hard for the enemy to kill) Bard feelds squishier than both though, but to be fair, that extra bit of survivability allows for many utility combo's especially if you're losing and you want to give your team an out, or winning and want to ensure enemy doesn't escape.

building full utility is the only other option. Items like righteous glory, iron locket, frozen heart, items that buff your team in some way, means that just being around makes bard a nuisance, but focussing him is a waste, and you can find yourself running around in circles unable to keep up.

I once baited the enemy team out of a losing team fight, through the jungle and back to my refreshed allies that popped to the platform to turn the tables of the fight. I've done many Nidalee/Wukong plays, because when you play bard right, he can bait and manipulate enemy players like such fools if they choose to chase him, and really mess up the enemy formation with the speed buff from his w, the portals behind enemy lines that make enemies hesitant about where they should go (often making them split up) and those Q's I find Q is a terrible offensive skill, it is designed for disengage, when the enemy tries to jump on you or run passed u to the adc, they run into it head first, while u have a bunch of heals at the back of the team fight, for speed buffs in any direction

Raptor's Cloak functions sort of like boots of mobility. You can go for pure mobility items for maximum roaming. Then cooldowns so that you can use your utility more often.

ControlBlue1 votes

Sona is not only tankier, but she also has more poke, more sustain, and more utility/speed than him.

I think that Riot was so afraid of the power of his ult that they heavily reduced the power of everything else in his kit, his Support and his Roaming. Even though he is a Roaming champion he has a terrible base movement speed, and in the Support department his poke and sustain is below average.

All he needs is a little push in those departments, a base movement speed more appropriate for a Roamer, better placements of his Chimes, a little more poke through his passive or Q, and more sustain through his W, then he'd be perfect, really, he doesn't need drastic changes.

Honestly I think his ult is in a good place - massive potential that is challenging to use in an optimal way, His other abilities are where he needs some help so that he is not subpar between ults.

  1. Add chime scaing to Q's damage, and shrine's heal
  2. Make the shrine's healing scale with time, not a discrete jump from mediocre heal to powerful heal at the 10 second mark
  3. and reduce it's mana cost god damn it! late game it's unreasonably high, specially considering you are very likely to cast it directly on top of an ally during teamfights/chases/escapes, forsaking the extra heal

his ultimate does not need a buff. His stats do so that he can do something besides sit behind everyone and wait to ult.

That sounds a bit OP...

i dont mind his ap scalings, but can que please make the shrines min-max heal gap reduce with the skill level? making it weak unless charge early on, but the difference between min and max late game be minimal so it can be use instantly more efectively? anyone in the game heal more than him right now

Uhh this breaks the concept to the reason of why they had to nerf Sejuani's ult. They nerfed skillshot ults like Sejuani's ult, or nerfing overall AP champ like Fizz, because they were not taking their own ults seriously since their own basic abilities would eventually do the damage instead, or missing it but still has the unfair upper advantage. For example:

  • Pre-nerf AP Fizz can pretty much just simply shoots his shark everywhere, missing it, but doesn't care since he can just QWE the enemies down.
  • Sejuani doesn't really have to focus her ult skillshot a lot to stun the whole enemy team since her ult will deal a massive AOE slows which will still results in a successful initiation, so yea, all she gotta do is close one eye and lands it.

So no, I do not propose this Bard ult to be giving reduced cooldowns to allies & freeze cooldowns to enemies. It's the players themselves who needs to improve their ult shooting.
