How about a nerf?

TheMightyGoogis··3 votes·2,172 views

So I don't know if the good ol' folks at Riot are blind or just plain retarded. I've kind of just ignored it since he came out, hoping that eventually Riot would see the blatantly obvious bullshit that they created, but apparently it has soared RIGHT over their heads. Many of those with any sense whatsoever already know who I'm talking about with just the extremely vague description provided, but I'll just go ahead and spell it out for the ones who were dropped down a few flights of stairs as a baby: Y-A-S-U-O. Now I know, I know, a lot of you enjoy playing as him. Who wouldn't? All you have to do is auto-lock as Yasuo, wait for the game to start... And then go take a fucking shower and come back to a victory screen. But really... 2x crit chance? And do you REALLY think that making his crits do 90% damage balances that shit at all? You have more chromosomes than the average human being if you think that it does in any way. A wind wall that can be cast AFTER an ability is used on you, and still block it? A shield that blocks ridiculous amounts of damage, especially early game, that only takes 5 seconds of walking around to recharge? An infinite dash that has no cooldown that basically allows you to fucking scoot up a line of minions in half a second? Riot... You've got to be shitting me. You're either confused as fuck, or at this point you're trolling everyone. USE YOUR HEADS LOST ONES. Let me break it down for you... People play video games for fun, right? And it's not very fun for the people playing against Yasuo to sit there and get slaughtered over and over again, right? And when people stop having fun, guess what happens? PEOPLE STOP PLAYING YOUR FUCKING GAME. Less people playing your game means less people buying riot points and keeping your asses afloat. I got C's in my math classes, and I can still add that shit up. Oh, and for all of you who like to say "Yas takes skill"... you can go ahead and sterilize yourselves, because the world doesn't need anymore motherfuckers like you. So Riot, please use your noodles and nerf this overpowered sack of shit. (And yes for all of you 'cool kids' out there, I am butthurt, I am madbro, im salty, sugary... whatever pleases you.) Any other opinions to be voiced?

Despite the rage, this thread has hilarious insults nonetheless.

Anyway, about Yasuo. Yes, his kit is problematic, and yes, Riot was aware of it. But, said kit was also his signature (which Riot usually dislikes changing). As a late game champion, Yasuo is supposed to be weak early, so Riot enhanced his general weaknesses rather than creating some in his overloaded (compared to old champions, kind of balanced compared to newer ones though) kit. They nerfed his base HP a lot, to make him more prone to harass in lane and so he can't just make a comeback if he feeds just by buying two items.

This has recently happened to Kata (although with her, the problem is a lot clearer than Yasuo). She reached a huge ban rate, huge pick rate too and got a few slaps on the wrist which didn't change her much at all. Then, to avoid changing her kit, Riot nerfed her base HP hard to let you set her back more easily early game.

Anyways, old Yasuo had a huge ban rate and would probably be instalocked in 7/10 games that he wasn't banned. Truth being said, things weren't fine here either. Post nerf Yasuo lost a lot of his ban/pick rate (still has a decent one though, he is nowhere near gutted), but now is a lot harder for bad players to use. The kit is still the same, and it isn't healthy by any means, but Riot's only actually healthy addition to League recently was Vel'Koz, so we can't hate on Yasuo for doing what nearly every other champion of his generation does.

Let's just say, there are a lot bigger offenders to balance than Yasuo. His kit isn't perfect, he is still a squishy melee and heavily AA reliant. I hate him, don't get me wrong, but I hate some other champions a lot more (ahem* Fizz*) and I would rather face Yasuo than them (ahem* Nidalee*)

I agree with just about everything you said. I understand they don't want to redo his whole kit... but dear god please at least the passive.

I would argue that his main unique identifier in his kit is wind, because that is his unique resource. What is unique to Rumble? Heat. Same with Yasuo. Yet, for some reason (ahem, Riot), people don't even associate wind with Yasuo anymore because his wind shield has been nerfed into the ground, making laning phase difficult, and I think even more so now that mages are nerfed into the ground with the mana buffs to Athene's.

What can help Yasuo in laning? A nice, sturdy shield.

What makes Yasuo so OP he can't be balanced? His double crit bonus.

What is especially unique to Yasuo, that he is the only one with that resource? Wind, which is used to give a shield.

My question is: Why the hell is the double crit bonus so damn 'unique' and 'necessary' to Yasuo? Why did they even give him Wind as a resource? They might as well make him resourceless, it's been nerfed into oblivion. I say, give what is unique to Yasuo, his Wind which generates a shield, back to Yasuo, and throw the fucking double crit bonus down the drain. It cannot be balanced, because once he does two items, he starts to carry so hard it is extremely hard to shut him down, especially if he has initiators on his team that can knock up. Once that ult goes off, he gets 50% armor penetration for 15 seconds, when combined with Black Cleaver after an ult is insane damage, even with 300 armor. He doesn't need a high base AD because all his hits do 210% of his AD, so the final 1-2 items he builds can even be pure defense if he's fed so no one can easily shut him down. His IE on a regular AA gives 168 bonus damage, not 80. Coupled with Statik Shiv, the damage from E and Q, 50% armor pen, another pen item, and what can defense do to Yasuo?

Proposal? Take away the double crit, and give his shield back. Hell, make it stronger than what it was on release on PBE to see if he needs more. Guess what will happen? Yasuo can lane safely and won't be OP as fuck with that shield once he gets 2 items. Guess what? They may even be able to revert all the nerfs, the HP, the ult range, the E 100% max damage, the movement speed, etc. Because he won't be able to get 3-4 kills and have what most ADCs get after 4 items. Why can't Riot see this?

TheMightyGoogis1 votes

I agree. Give him the shield, to hell with the crit chance. There was never ANY scenario where the double crit chance was necessary, and that's why I'm in slight disbelief of Riot. What did they expect? It's not necessarily Yasuo's kit thats the problem... It's yasuo's kit combined with that god damned passive.

Rubber Jesus1 votes

Yeah, it creates a scenario where he can snowball very early in the game. They had to respond to this by nerfing his shield to the point of almost non-existence. If the double crit were removed, and a stronger shield were in place, he could get every single nerf to his shield back, and maybe even some buffs, which would put him in the melee-carry role he was designed for. The 15 sec 50% armor pen would give him ample damage to shred through any and everything, especially when combined with Black Cleaver, making for a nice clean-up. If he gets behind, his stronger shield would allow him to still stay in fights (this is why his win-rate is so low, he doesn't snowball in first 10 minutes, and then his kit is worthless and he feeds) and still provide meaningful input and damage without just jumping in and dying because he didn't kill everyone in less than 5 seconds.

I just don't see why Riot doesn't understand the double crit is what makes him unbalancable, an extreme snowball champion that relies on early kills to dominate the game or feeds if he doesn't, his unique identity does not revolve around double crit, they have repeatedly nerfed what is unique about Yasuo to keep one unbalancable stat, etc.

I just don't see why they can't just try a Yasuo without double crit, with all his nerfs reverted on the PBE, just to see what would happen. It is just PBE, and I bet they would be surprised at the results. He would still do damage, he would have more balanced stats after game, he wouldn't either snowball or feed, (because it's usually one or the other, most of the time), and he would keep his main identity of being a champion based on using movement/wind.

I agree that Yasuo needs to be toned down a bit, or needs a few more ways to counterplay him. I do not agree with the manner in which you are presenting your opinion. No one will take you seriously over the internet regardless of how you present yourself. So why make yourself look like a 10 year old child throwing a temper-tantrum?

TheMightyGoogis1 votes

Honesty + Stress relief = Me feeling good about myself. And you're right about this being the internet, so why care about how I present myself?

M0RDEKA1SER1 votes

I don't. Like I said, I agree with you. I was just curious more than anything.

I think that Yasuo is fine the way he his. His does have some clear strengths, but he also has some weaknesses that can easily be taken advantage of. He is a fairly weak laner and is very item dependent. He loses most matchups and lack of escapes make him easy to gank. In fights, he's easy to catch out and lock down. If played well, he can be a problem, but he does have counterplay.

TheMightyGoogis1 votes

Everyone's item dependent, but in Yasuo's case, he only needs two items instead of six. Give him an IE and a statik shiv and lo, you have some bullshit on your hands.

Antonok1 votes

Most champs only require 2 items to hit the first major power spike. Someone only require 1. Nasus rushing Shiv, Irelia/Corki finishing TF, most ADCs finishing IE.

Infinity Edge is a huge investment and a Yasuo who falls behind has a hard time farming because he really has no range and can be harassed quite easily. His wall has a long cooldown and can be useless in some matchups.

Yes, but it doesn't matter how far behind Yasuo is, eventually he WILL get the ie, and once he does he hardly needs anything else. The ie's passive negates his 'only' 90% crit damage, and it gives him a lot of ad and 50% crit... It doesn't matter which way you put it, there was just no logic whatsoever in the creation of Yasuo.

It is to create another ad mid champion besides zed, plus he is really fun to play.. which is the whole point...

Fun for the person playing Yasuo... What about the five people on the other team?

KDragonL1 votes

You should be trying to close out the game and not letting Yasuo get farmed up. Yasou is useless when he is behind. The problem is you and not the champion.

Thats not the point. Its that Yasuo should get crushed in lane, if you aren't mentally disabled enough to poke him out. That is why his winrate is so low.

It appears you also received less than high marks in English class as you're incapable of using proper structure. Based on the disjointed nature of your statement I'm going to guess Sophomore English?

My opinion: yours' doesn't matter in this regard.

Dawg Yasuo is already hard as hell to play because of the nerfs riot gave him in response to his strength. Yasuo if anything is a weakened state of his former self and needs 0 nerfs. I wouldn't even mind a buff!

You clearly haven't seen a yasuo played have you?

Dude I'm telling you, he's not the monster you think he is. Maybe late game, but he's a fighter. He's SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY

Here is my opinion:

Yasuo's signature feature resource is: WIND. Yes, I know, most of you thought double crit, and some included the 50% armor penetration, as his signature feature, but Yasuo actually got a unique resource as a champion that most people don't even notice or care about. This is a problem.

Yasuo's resource is Wind, and it creates a shield to allow him to be a melee fighter with high dps. Here is the problem: He is OP when you can actually utilize a decent shield reliably with double crit after 2 items, combined with 50% pen for like 15 seconds after his ult. This creates some crazy snowballing scenarios.

The solution here is simple to me. Return Yasuo to his signature feature, Wind. Make his kit revolve around Wind, and give it a buff. What will this mean? Well, this means you would need to remove that double crit, overload aspect of his passive. Think about it. Take away double crit, and make his shield worth something. His nerfs have consistently revolved around his nerfing his shield, the one thing he gets from his resource and the only wind resource in the game. It's the thing that makes him a stable champion to play as in laning, and it is the only part of his passive that won't encourage massive unstoppable snowballing.

Why nerf his shield over and over, with problems never resolved? Doing the same thing, over and over, and getting the same shitty results, is idiocy.

yasuo isn't op in my elo becuase people cant play him properly.

so until i tractably face enough players who are smart enough to activate their knockup on their dash instead of trying to hit me with an easily dodgable tornado. i don't have enough data to comment on his "OP"ness
