Riot should bring changes to the Champion prices

RECKLESS OP··13 votes·1,420 views

As the xp needed to reach summoner lvl 30 is reduced, new players are facing some issues: by the time the summoner reaches lvl 30, they don't have enough IP to buy tier 3 runes and enough champions to start ranked games. Despite the fact that some of the main runes got a permanent discount, summoners cannot easily buy the champions they want before they start the ranked games, so often they choose to buy all the 450 IP champions to meet the requirements for the ranked game. As you can reach lvl 30 more quickly than before, I think riot should lower the prices of some expensive champions so that summoners can access to more champions by the time they reach lvl 30.

Something something grindfest something something fanboy circlejerk something something.

That's why prices aren't lowered.

Personally I think Riot has been spot on for pricing champs, runes, pages, etc.

It's meant to take a good bit of time to accumulate a collection. That's why you have the 450 ip champs, so you can get started on building a pool.

As far as ranked and having enough champs to be viable, it takes maybe a few months. That's not a whole lot of time

IP is not difficult to earn. Even if you earn only 500 a day, you'll be earning 15,000 a month on average. That's enough to purchase a minimum of 2 champions a month. Then you can practice your recent purchases in norms and continue to earn IP for other purchases.

500 a day is only possible for a lot of people until they hit lv 30. I only average 1 game per day for example. If that isn't a win I earn about 100 ip max.

Even if you only do one game a day vs AI, you'll average 200 a day. Also, ARAM is a nice way of earning IP without having to stress over it. If you only have so much time a day to play, I suggest 1 AI game for your first win and then play 2 ARAM games after that. Doing this will earn you approximately 300-400 IP per day and it's usually earned in under 2 hours depending on loading times. And you wouldn't have to play all three games in one sitting. Breaking it up, you could manage your time effectively and play a bit in the AM and then a bit in the PM.

You'll probably average something like 10,000 IP a month this way if not more.

Ai games give less ip, pretty sure aram games give a tiny bit less as well. So really that averages 250-300 assuming a 1 win 1 lose aram.

Now I am personally not overly concerned about earning ip. However considering that it lets people play ranked with fewer, cheaper options, I feel like a small price reduction is in order.

The average player who hits 30 now has 1/2 as much ip as before, which puts them at a clear disadvantage vs low ranked people who hit 30 pre xp update. Those people will usually have 1-2 full rune pages and multiple champs for every role. In comparison the players who just hit lv 30 go into ranked with 1 tier 3 rune page max, and 1-2 champs for every role unless they buy all the cheapest champs. Realistically a 6300 champ is about 1/5 of the ip a player will get by lv 30. That is a lot considering good runes cost a lot more than that. (And tier 2 runes only last so long if you want to rise up)

If you play only 1 game a day. You should be playing AI to maximize the chance you get win of the day.

Ideally you should get 50+150 =200 for the first AI match, then 50 (loss) to 100 (win) for a regular. That's 250-300 IP for 2 games (1 hour) a day.

Note that I have been playing for a bit over 2 years now and I don't care much about ip (just saved 13900 for a name change)

There is another reply I posted above that explains the points I was trying to raise. Mind reading that and replying there? I try to avoid having one comment turn into multiple discussions if it can be avoided.

Thanks ;P

At 500 ip per day, that's way too much time spent playing the game. Not everyone can put in five hours a day just to get 3-4 champions a month out of a 130+ champion pool.

F2P games are time-gated by default. The gain after the first 1-2 hours of the day is minimized and mostly a giant time sink.

If you want thing faster, real money is required. That's how F2P works.

I honestly like that you can't easily earn all the champions in the game. Having a limited pool to me is part of the game and kind of prevents people from just buying whoever is strongest whenever they get that way.

GaleWinUnleashed1 votes

Took 3 years of mostly casual play for me to get all the champions.

And? Good thing? Bad thing? Why did you comment?

GaleWinUnleashed1 votes

Just a bit of perspective on how long it can take. No particular reason.

Except you can literally BUY champions. With $$$$. You just described FOTM. Buff. sell a lot. Nerf. Buff next champion. Sell.. nerf...

Be honest here. Nobody just straight up buys that many champions with rp, if any at all

New players buy. Some smurf players buy if their main is in the 6300 rp zone and they need more than one rune page.

Veterans players don't buy champions.

Ok I can respect the post above yours but really? I guess because I'm low Elo I don't get to know anything? Every one of my friends ( gold, silver, plat, bronze) that got me into the game had the same advice to give when I first started to now. Don't buy champs with rp. Until now I figured that was common knowledge but according to you I am now toxic for even mentioning that. Thank you sir for wasting my time reading and responding to that very thought out comment of yours, of which I still don't know the point of.

It's not a valid issue as they do not miss out anything.

After 10-20 games, you'll reach the rank your skills allow, keep on grinding won't do much.

I agree especially with making Ryze and Poppy more difficult champion then before. They should Adjust the pricing so the easier champions are cheap and the more difficult are more expensive.Vi Could easily be a 1350 champion. Just one example.
