Placement Games Don't Matter

What's the point of making us do placement games if they have no bearing on where you are actually placed? I was gold 3 90 LP at the end of the season, I went 9-1 in placement games with a KDA over 4.5, and I still got demoted to Silver 1. It's very discouraging when you do your best in these "placement games" and they ultimately do not matter at all, because you're going to get demoted anyway. Why not just roll everyone back to the mean average as intended by the -1200 MMR or whatever and leave it at that? Why make us do pointless placement matches?

Gold 3 to Silver 1 is actually one of the better outcomes, lots somehow got silver 5 or 4. I would consider yourself lucky.
