The Ranked Loop.

Hi lads, I have a thought that kind of bothers me all the time regarding the ranked climb.I started out this season with being placed in Diamond 1,was pretty satisfied with that considering I ended the Season with Dia 3 and the preseason with Dia 2. As the games went by, I eventually dropped down to diamond 4, with a negative wr, and having played more games then I should have(lul), I finally climbed back to Dia1. So all was going well until recently, I had an 11 game lose streak(wtf?!?!?) and dropped to Diamond 2.

Now I know no one here is interested in an average players climb, but has anyone else felt that the game kind of keeps you in this loop? I mean, cycling back and forth between divisions constantly, having random lose/win streaks, being placed with players that are on a lose streak/win streak on purpose,or am I just being paranoid? Never actually bothered about this, but this season it really sets me off, kind of thinking about quitting the game for good. Any thoughts?

Thanks for giving it a read!:) Cheers.

You are definitely not being paranoid. I'm getting tired of these forced losses that the matchmaking system sets up to artificially make sure my win rate is always 50%.

how do players make it to challenger then ? how do they overcome the "forced 50% WR"

Probably by playing only the strongest champions, never touching the bottom hundred. I refuse to do that, hence I can't overcome a forces loss.

i mean if you are always playing weaker champions by meta standards then its kinda on you not any mysterious forced loss, i get it if the champ pool you prefer is underwhelming but if your goal is to climb rather playing who you enjoy maybe its time to expand some of your pool to include stronger picks

Often they will Duo and that makes it so Riot cant stack the deck as hard. They also start off out side of the real Hell Elos each season unless its a Smurf account. If its a Smurf account their win rates trigger Riots "Detect a Smurf" code that inflates their MMR at light speed and so the system actively works to put them in better matches to make them climb faster.

I always love reading these because it makes me feel better about my life choices.

My ranked loop:

  • Look at ranked.
  • Play normals instead.
  • Smile contentedly.

Yea, I wish normals would give me any sense of satisfaction, otherwise I wouldnt even touch rankeds :/.

All the time. Im not in Diamond or anything but Last season I got to S1 25+ times and Riot's Promo code made sure I had the most AFKers and Feeders in those promos. I almost always got to the Promos with a Large win streak and so it was followed by a large losing streak.

Its as if Riot had put a Stack in the ground and attacked a Rubber Band to it and me. No matter how hard I pull on it to climb it WILL fling me back.

I think riot designed it this way. It will plant the stack once you hit about 200-500 games and there is NOTHING you can do to climb.

I mean, I understand they want to juice as much out of you as possible financially, or at least try to , but doesn't that actually make the players quit?
