Ideas to make Vel'Koz more "distinct"
We all know Vel'Koz' standard combo: Q --> E --> W --> R (not necessarily this order). As Vel'Koz we just spam our skills without thinking about it and hoping it will do enough damage to kill your opponent(s). His passive is also not something that we focus too much on, we simply try to reach 3 stacks for extra damage and that's it. No strategic play is involved. I had a few ideas to make his skills more unique or interact with each other which will hopefully make Vel'Koz players choose which spell to cast first etc.
-
** Q slow change ** The first bolt that hits the enemy will slow them by 70% and decays over time (This is the original). The second bolts (Q reactivate) that hits the enemy will slow them by 20% at first and increases to 70% over time.
-
Q interacting with passive If Plasma Fission (Q) activates the 3rd stack of Organic Deconstruction (Passive) it will apply an immediate 70% slow that does not decay.
-
W interacting with passive If Void Rift's (W) detonation (not initial) damage activates the 3rd stack of Organic Deconstruction (Passive), the Void Rift will stay on the ground for 1 second longer and deal damage over time to enemies standing on it (like Rumble's ultimate).
-
** E interacting with passive** If Tectonic Disruption (E) activates the 3rd stack of Organic Deconstruction (Passive), then the stun time will increase from 0.75 sec --> 1.5 sec
-
** Cancelling R** If Vel'Koz cancels Lifeform Disintegration Ray (R) by himself (not by interruption), then a narrower but longer Void Rift (W) will be left on the line where his ultimate was before. That duplication of Void Rift will deal more damage than his original Void Rift but it can only be "spawned" if he cancels his ultimate. This way players have to choose to either use their Lifeform Disintegration Ray completely and deal a certain guaranteed amount of damage, OR cancel Lifeform Disintegration Ray midway and deal more damage (because of the duplicated Void Rift) but making it easier for enemies to dodge
Those ideas are mostly buffs, so it would be fair to compensate them by decreasing Vel'Koz' base/passive damage. Please let me know what you think!
