League is going to fall because of smurfs

The majority of league community is made of gold and silver players, which are the "average gamers" that make up league and for games to be successful, average gamers need to have a pleasant gaming experience. Right now however, this is not the case, at least for me and my friends who are now quitting this game. Yes, that may be a small pool, but from many rank games I have played, smurfs appear at extremely high ratios. Smurfing is actually a domino effect. If your main account gets wrecked by smurfs, you may also decide to smurf to wreck. Because you feel dumb trying to win impossible games. I remember back in season 3 and 4 league, there used to be only a small smurf ratio and I had so much fun as I tried my best to rank up, but now its a smurf nation and rank games only gives me stress. Also, not punishing smurfs makes new players feel dumb by trying their best in rank against veteran smurfs who in reality can off set the balance of the game real bad. I've seen players with 90% win rate and just wrecking everyone and it really must be fun for smurfs. It is sad to see one of my favorite online game is turning into a mess.

70% of players are bronze/silver according to sites like leagueofgraphs and op.gg. https://imgur.com/BDLguex

Look, I showed evidence, now you show some. Enemy caitlyn go 15/2 against your friend? Well guess what, she has a 49% winrate in ranked. She's not smurfing. Please, show me ALL of these smurfs you're going against. I bet you wont find more than 1 with an absurd winrate.

My main is d5, my smurf is p1. I use the 2nd account for practice. If 1 in 10 players is plat+. How much of those players will make a smurf? How much are still in elos that they shouldn't be in? Several smurf accounts? It is still just one person.

The chances are just unlikely until you hit high diamond, where the player pool is just small. You aren't playing against smurfs, you're just losing. We all lose games.

Met all of them within 2 days period and 6 games. Don't tell me they are not smurfs. Honestly even getting 60% win rate is extremely tough if you are not a smurf. Also, smurfs can even have 49% win rate, but depends if they want to troll or not.

Smurfs have been here since the start

The game is still very popular

Yea its still popular, but I am curious to see the actual statistics on number of active players throughout the years. I know for a fact that huge number of people quit this game after riot messed with solo que, but a lot did come back after they fixed it. However, I do not feel as many people are playing as they did in season 3 or 4. As in less new players, more smurfs and more quitters.

Well statistics they posted last year shown that League population increased by 50% since 2014. There arent as many smurfs as u claim to be considering only 9% of population is plat and higher. How many of those 9% actually have smurf account? How many are playing in same time? Chance for you to play against smurf is very small.

Here is a mistake you are making. League population can only grow. Even if you quit, you are still counted in that population. So you have to look at active players. 9% of plat or higher players, but they can have up to several smurf accounts. Why? cause only thing you need to make a league account is an e-mail. I actually have a friend who has 6 lvl 30 accounts. Usually veteran players have at least one smurf account.

Well they count only ACTIVE accounts. He can have 200 accounts, he is still just one player. Chances to encounter smurf are pretty slim. How many play in same time as you, how many have smurf in your exact ELO? Then he can be in your team, not in enemy team.

A link to that statistic would be appreciated.

League of Legends now boasts over 100 million monthly active players worldwide

The credibility of that data is poor. No real explanation on how they determined each unique players. It also may depend on servers, maybe they are having more players in newer servers like Japan, but the popularity is dying in NA. I most noticeably see this through twitch view counts.

Well it has more credibility than you. Twitch view counts? Ok. Show me numbers from 3 years ago and now.

I don't know where to look up exact statistics, but I remember back then, league had no competition at all, but now league loses to counter strike for number of peak viewers.

Look at average viewers, not peak viewers.

Thats actually also compared to last year where riot really messed up with solo rank, and overwatch was gaining popularity.
My point is, back in the days league had superior view counts compared to other games, however, now its not. And although it is still the most popular game, I believe that smurfs are going to be the cause for the fall of this game. I'm fine if you disagree, because at the end of the day it's only my opinion, take it or leave it. But at the same time, I do think I am making valid points.

TBH, right now, with so many smurfs, to rank up their main they ask their smurfing friend for help. I have never done it because I feel like that's cheating but a lot of people do it and those who don't are actually punished for not cheating the system. Just go to Twitch.tv I think about 8-90% are smurfing really, aside from semi-pros and pros and its never punished.
